Chapter 5:
I was drowning, and you were 3 feet away screaming, "learn how to swim!"

Dean's P.O.V
"Lisa, shut up. I really don't care." I snapped. She kept blabbing about how me and her should hook up again. I really wasn't in the mood. We've had sex twice, but she makes it seem like we're married or something. "What's got your knickers in a twist, Dean?" Crowley asked. I was about to climb over that table and put his 'knickers in a twist'. Gabriel had to threaten him about keeping his mouth shut about me and Cas, but that didn't stop him from dropping hints every now and then. "Has anyone seen Castiel? I've not seen him at all today. Maybe he is avoiding you, Dean?" Crowley winked.
"Crowley, shut up. I'm holding back all my strength to throw you in a window." Sammy hissed.
"Down, moose. You should really keep him on a leash." I quit paying attention after that, because the smart ass Brit was right. Castiel wasn't in his normal spot. I looked around the entire lunchroom and saw that he was no where to be found. I got up from the table and walked toward the restrooms. I opened the door. "Cas! Castiel, where are you? We need to talk."

Castiel's P.O.V
"Cas! Castiel, where are you? We need to talk." Oh, God, no. Dean said those exact words to me in my dream. I started (quietly) hyperventilating
I had stuffed myself into the last stall and ate my lunch there. Dean told me he couldn't be seen with me so I tried to avoid him at all costs. "Cas? Seriously, I saw you in the hallways, so you gotta be somewhere," he called. It echoed through the stone tiles and wall. I continued to ignore his pleading voice. "If you don't come out now, I will find you. And we will talk," the door of the bathroom opened, and he left. I exhaled the breath I had been holding, and threw my leftovers away. I glanced outside of the restroom. Dean was at his table, and he seemed to be consumed with an argument he was having with Lisa. I camouflaged myself into the crowd, and walked out of the cafeteria with my class mates. Just for measures I looked back; only to see Dean glaring at me. My stomach churned, and I quickly turned around and walked away.

Dean's P.O.V
I saw that little shit walk right out of the restroom. I knew he was there, but why did he ignore me? My heart started to sink as my class and I walked back to the room. Lisa kept yapping about how much of an idiot I've been lately. I resisted the urge to throw her into the lockers. I would never hit a girl, so I'm slightly exaggerating. Slightly.

"Mr. Winchester!" Mrs. Smith snapped. I was so caught up in Castiel, that I had forgotten where I was at. I looked around the classroom to see everyone snickering at me. I glanced up at the old woman who looked like she was sucking on a lemon. Wait, did she ever look normal? God, was she fugly. I'm losing track again. "Yes ma'am?" I smiled.
"I expect more from you young man! Pay attention!" she snapped. I pretty much told her straightforwardly that no one really gives a damn what she teaches. I mean, no one is going to use x+y-12x=banana or whatever they're teaching now a'days. She grunted, and used some very colourful cursing before turning back to the board.
I couldn't pay attention to anything the rest of the day. Not that I cared, but still. I had to talk to Castiel. I had to. I decided to just skip football Friday, and apologize to him in the comfort of his home.

Before the game on Friday, I handed my coach an "excuse" and limped away on my "sprained" ankle. If you know what I mean. On the drive to Cas's house, I rehearsed my lines. Nothing sounded too great, so I was just gonna wing it.
When I got to Cas's house, I parked my Impala behind the house so he wouldn't notice I was there. I picked his lock, and barged in. The house was a wreck. It looked like Castiel had been sacrificing pigs to Satan. Blood was stained in the carpet, and cleaning supplies laid next to it. I walked on through the house and into the hallway toward his room. Cas's room had bed sheets thrown about. I'm pretty sure I was standing in puke. Either he had an outrageous party and is off the hook, or he's got some serious explaining to do.
A loud slamming and glass breaking came from the kitchen. "Damnit..." Cas sputtered. I looked around the corner of the bedroom and at Cas. He was bent down on his plush white carpet, trying to get the rest of the stains out and picked up some glass he had just dropped. He stood up, and took his red and black hoodie off. Who would wear a jacket in this type of weather? It's 90 degrees outside!
I studied himself more closely, and saw bruises and bandages. All of a sudden, Castiel stopped scrubbing and looked at me. "Dean?! Dean, what are you doing here? You have to leave! Now, please!"

Castiel's P.O.V
Dean was just standing in my room like he owned the place. What was he doing here? He nearly jumped out of his skin when I yelled at him. "Cas! We have to talk," he replied.
"You can tell me another time, but right now you have to go!"
"I can't! I have to say it now. Castiel.. I-"
"Caaaaasssss!" An eerie echo through my home gave me chills. Dad was back again... He shouldn't be here! I whispered to Dean, "Dean, go! Go through the back door, you can't be here right now." Dean looked startled. He glanced over my shoulder at father, then back at me. "I'm gonna go hide in your closet, okay? I swear, I won't leave you," he whispered back. He placed a kiss on my forehead and scampered off into my room. I was shocked when he kissed me. "There you are little queer," he hiccuped and I jumped breaking my trance, "I gotta borrow a couple hundred. I won't be back for a few more months. The cops are chasing me. So, keep your hormones to a minimum and try not to screw that Winchester kid.." he stumbled over to the kitchen counter and grabbed my wallet. He took 300 out of it, decided to just take all the money instead, and hobbled to the door. "Oh, and if you tell anyone about the other night, I won't be so easy on you. And clean this mess up." He muttered something else while staggering out the door.
After I made sure that it was quite safe, I called out to Dean that it was okay for him to come out of the closet. (Pardon the pun.) "Cas, what was that all about dude? Are you okay?" he asked.
"I'm fine Dean," I shrugged my hoodie back over my body and stumbled to the living room.
"No, I mean like are you hurt man? Did he hurt you?"
"I said I'm fine Dean!" I started to pick up bits of glass, wipe blood from the carpet, and dispose of any trash left behind. Dean looked at me for a bit, then sat on the couch. "If you're going to sit and loiter, you might as well leave. You shouldn't even be here anyways," I had muttered the last part, and immediately scolded myself for it. I really hoped he didn't hear that. "I'm just trying to figure all this out Cas, ya know? I-I have something to say. I'm j-just not sure how to go about it," he stuttered. I turned towards him and looked. His beautiful eyes had started to produce dark circles from lack of sleep. His lips were pale and ashy, and his hair was a wreck. He looked as if he hadn't eaten in a few days. But, nonetheless, Dean was still beautiful. "Alright Dean," I sat down beside him, "humour me. What is it you so desperately need to tell me?"
Knowing, it was probably just another excuse for me to leave him alone, or how he doesn't swing my way and for me to get lost, I still smiled politely and prepared for the worst.
"I'm not gay, I'm really not. And I'm not just saying all this because I feel sorry for you," I stared at him for the longest.
"What are you talking about, Dean?"
He started laughing, "Castiel, I love you! I don't know what else to say, or how to say it! But you've been on my mind, ever since last week. I can't stop thinking about you. Please, say something!" Tears started to form at the corners of his eyes. His lip quivered. But, of course, Dean doesn't cry. He perked himself up, and just stared at me.
I tried to talk, I really did. I may have muttered a few letters, but before I could say any actual words he kissed me. I fluttered my eyes closed while he wrapped his arms around me. He pulled me up onto his lap as the kiss deepened. I ran my fingers through his thick dirty blonde hair and caressed him with my other hand. His hands were tangled around my back, pulling me closer in every inch. I could feel him smile during the kiss, and tears rolling down his cheeks. The only time we quit were 2 second breathers, and then we went right back to kissing.
We broke away, and silently agreed that, that was enough for one night. He pulled me closer and resisted his head on my chest. I was very uncomfortable in the position, but I didn't wanna move, from that spot. I wanted to stay like that forever, even if that position gave me scoliosis.
