"Ericka? Ericka," I heard her call with a sigh at the end. I giggled and waited. "Ericka, where are you? We don't have time for this... Ericka?" I tried my hardest not to explode into a laughing fit. Her footsteps echoed through out the store. "Ericka, the store is going to close soon!" Suddenly they lights shut off. I got scared, but I didn't cry for help. "Ericka!?"

I wanted the lights to turn back on. The place was mysterious and nerve racking in the dark. "Ericka, you can come out. I can help you get out of here. I know you're scared." I ignored her still and thought of a way to help myself. Crawling across the floor quietly, I looked around, barely seeing all the racks of clothes around. I didn't want to go to my mom because I wanted to show her how brave I could be. Looking at one of the lights that went out, I focused all my energy on it.

Do you remember when you were a child, you wanted to see if you had powers, so you would try to put all your mental and physical energy into some magical source you didn't possess? I had too. One night, I had been in my room, trying to sleep. Then my night light went out. I called my mom for help, but she couldn't hear me. I cried silently until I noticed I had to try and do something about it. Being too scared to get up, I stared at the nightlight. As I urged the energy to emerge from me, I could feel myself linking with the nightlight. And just like that, the light was on again, alive again.

Electricity is alive. Phones literally die, over and over because they need charged. When there is a shortage, it's crying for help. And I know this because ever since that night with the nightlight, I can feel the spirit of electricity in all things. And it's every where. The sky, the walls, even the water. It's in the air, and it is in you and I.

I stared intensely at the light. Using my mind and body, I fixed what caused the black out that had spread through the whole city, and the lights came on. "Ericka!" my mom screeched, catching sight of me. She stomped over to me and dragged me out of the store by my wrist. Being angry she hadn't acknowledged what I did, I made a light bulb explode.
