"I don't buy it." Marco states, arms crossed, an unwavering, goofy smile plastered across his face. Star rolls her eyes, "I could prove it to you, if I wanted to I definitely could, Marco Diaz." Star retorts. On the way home, Star randomly proclaimed that she no longer had a crush on Oskar Greason. "Come on Star, every time you lay eyes on him, you go unaware of everyone and thing around you." Marco scoffs a bit.

"Psh, details." Star mumbles under her breath. "He's old news. Not the one for me. Definitely not king-of-mewni material." Star claims, using air quotes un-ironically. Marco seemed to go unaware, himself; imagining what it really would be like to be the king of a magical, other dimension. "And what about me?" Marco smirked, not knowing why or where he was going with this. Star shot up, eyes widening. "W-what do you mea-" Star's thoughts interrupting her speech.

"Theatrically speaking, I don't intend on letting you leave earth without me, so I'm just speaking out loud, but someday, if you're in desperate need of a husband" Marco paused here for dramatic effect and threw the back of his hand against his forehead, "I am giving you permission to marry me." Marco ended, pleased and increasingly worried at the words he just spoke.

Star sat, mouth agape, then quickly gained composure, "You're allowing me to marry you? Well your 'permission' is denied." Marco scoffed, offense greatly exaggerated. "Why?" He asked, almost nervously, losing all pride.
"You didn't ask me properly." Star crossed her arms and closed her eyes as if faking sleep.

Marco, confidence back within grasp, smiled and dramatically dropped to the ground of the bus floor on one knee. He reached for the princess' hands, self assured, and began his over-exaggerated soliloquy, "Star Butterfly, I will protect you from all harm and in turn allow," he smirked "you to give me your protection as well. I will give you all the nachos this world has to offer and follow you to the ends of the earth if that's where the last nacho happens to be and you're really just craving them. If you take this dusty ring pop I found on the bus floor just seconds ago as a promise to have and to hold, I will make the greatest king Mewni has ever seen. That is if you're not married within the next ten years," Star, laughing the majority of the time, stopped and noticed his comedic proposal was starting to sound more and more realistic every word.

"Two best friends, taking on life together, platonic marriage, we can make that a thing. Who needs some rotten prince when your future could just be right in front of you," Marco seemed to drift, thinking aloud, not-so-kidding anymore, "platonically." He ended and sat back atop the stained bus cushion as if nothing had happened whatsoever.

Star, shocked, along with their neighboring classmates, sat in disbelief. Her emotions getting the best of her, Star grabbed a dazed Marco by the shoulders and crashed her lips squarely against his. Not much time passed before Marco was finally aware again and gave into the kiss as quickly as it had happened. They broke apart, "Fine, you don't like Oskar anymore. You proved me wrong."
