Claire's POV
Journal,
I haven't seen or talked to Raelynn in almost two months. I miss her like crazy. I sometimes wonder if she misses me. I've talked to Noah here and there, but only because he asks how I'm doing. I've been in a really confused place lately. I don't know where my heart should be anymore. I know it should be with Adam, but all I can seem to think about is Raelynn. Adam's anger has gotten worse. I thought he would get better. I'm trapped. Carmen and I barely talk. I'm losing everyone around me. I'm drowning in my own sadness. But as Raelynn told me, I just have to believe that there will be a day where I am free.I cried silently to myself. It's been like this for a while. I'm sick of feeling this way. I got out of my bed, and I made my way to the main bathroom. I opened the cupboard up, and saw a display of pill bottles. I chose a bottle, and sat down. I dumped the bottle of big white pills into the palm of my hand. My hands were shaking so badly. I took a few shaky breaths before I dumped the pills into my mouth. I sat there and cried, waiting for something to happen. I started to get drowsy. I put my head on the tile floor. Luckily, Adam wasn't home for the weekend, so he wouldn't come home to help me. I'm finally gonna be free from all of this. A few more tears rolled down my face as I got even more drowsy.
"Claire?" I heard someone shout my name. Eventually, I could barely keep my eyes open. I shut my eyes and fell asleep, hoping I wasn't gonna wake up again.
Noah's POV
"And what are you doing, Noah?" Raelynn said on the other end of the phone call.
"I'm just going to explore the town, see if there are any stores worth my time," I said, even though I was heading to Claire's house to check on her.
"That's so weird, Noah. You've never done that."
"Hey, let me explore, brat."
"Fine, just don't be home too late."
"Okay, mother."
I heard Raelynn giggle. "I'll see you later."
"Sounds good," I said and hung up. I was headed to Claire's house just to see how she was doing. She might need a friend, and I was willing to be that friend. I pulled up to her house and noticed only her car was in the driveway. I parked and hopped out of my car. I knocked on the door and waited for an answer. After a few minutes of nothing, I knocked again. A few more minutes went by without a response. I pulled out my phone and dialed her number. It went straight to voicemail. Maybe she isn't home. I knocked again. No response. I decided to see if the door was locked. I was surprised to see that it wasn't. I walked inside her house.
