Raelynn's POV
I came home that night feeling a rush of emotions. I sighed as I shut the door leading into my townhouse. The house was oddly silent. I walked up the stairs and into my bedroom. I fell onto my bed and sighed. I closed my eyes and started thinking.
"Hey!" My roommate, Noah's, voice filled my bedroom. "How was your date?"
I hopped up, off of my bed. "Okay, it was not a date, Noah," I protested.
"Then why did you get all dressed up?" I looked down at my ripped jeans and gave Noah an eyebrow raise. "Oh cmon, you know you're always in sweatpants."
"Okay, well, I haven't seen Claire in a long time and I wanted to make a good impression. I wanted to show her the better version of me. Not the version that I am right now, which is a complete disaster."
"Hey, if you a disaster, you wouldn't have scored a date with a hot girl."
I slapped his arm. "It was not a date, Noah!"
"You can protest all you want, but I know you have feelings." I looked down at the ground. "See! Look at you turn red!"
I slapped his arm again. "I don't have feelings for her like that. And even if I did, she doesn't swing that way. Never has. Not even for the hot celebrity chicks. And she has a boyfriend."
"So you do have feelings?"
"Sorry to break your heart, but no."
"Shoot," he said with a sigh. "I really thought Claelynn was gonna become a thing."
I shot him a glare. "You gave us a ship name, Noah?"
"Guilty," he responded with a grin.
"Leave my room."
"What? I was just playing-"
"You have disappointed me." I looked him in the eyes. I started to smile. "Leave," I said with a laugh.
"Yes, ma'am. See you tomorrow. Night."
"Night, you nerd." He left my room. I sat in my office chair, a smile plastered on my face.
Claire's POV
"Adam! How do you want your eggs?" I hollered at him.
He came down the stairs. "I don't want any eggs. You can never cook them right," he said while tossing the newspaper on the counter.
"Okay, so what are you eating for breakfast?"
"I'm going out with a friend. Why don't you invite your little friend, Carlie, over? She's a babe."
"Okay, first of all, it's Carmen. Second of all, it doesn't matter if you find her attractive. You're with me. That's kind of how dating works." He gave an irritated sigh as a response.
"Whatever, just invite her over."
"I kind of wanted it to just be a 'me' day." He glared at me. "Okay, I'll ask her if she can come over." He nodded.
"Okay, bye. I better see Chloe when I get home."
"It's still Carmen," I mumbled under my breath. The front door shut, and I grabbed my phone. I dialed Carmen's number.
"Hey, Claire," she answered.
"Hey! So I'm totally free today, and I was wondering if you wanted to come over?"
"Sure, I guess. Be there in a half an hour."
"K. Bye," I hung up. I ran upstairs and threw on a gray hoodie and some black jeans. There was a knock on the door, and in walked Carmen.
