Ashley's pov

I walked through the woods. The leaves crunching with every step I took. It was almost sunset and the sky looked beautiful. But I couldn't think about that now.

All that was on my mind was my mate.

Questions whirled in my head, 'why would he lie?', 'was he really just testing me?', 'does he even still love me?'. It didn't make any sense. This is not the Hunter I know. I don't know why he did that, but I was about to find out.

It didn't take long to find him, considering I was jumping from tree to tree looking for him. I finally found him sitting on the top branch of a tall tree. He looked calm, and was staring into the sky towards the sun. Watching it, as it was about to set. I jump on the branch he was on and sit next to him, not looking at him because I know if I did, I might forgive him to quickly.

From the corner of my eye I see him look and smile at me. But I ignore him and look towards the sky, my face revealing my anger.

"Why did you do that?" I ask. Trying to keep my voice calm.

He looked at me, genuinely confused.

"What do you mean?"

"You know what I mean."

He waits for me to continue.

"Why did you tell me that Chris said those awful lies to you." I say, getting straight to the point.

"Ashley what are you talking about? I haven't talked to you sense last night! I haven't talked to Chris all day either!" He says, looking confused once again.

Wait? If he didn't tell me that.
               Then who did?
