The rush Percy felt when he hit the water felt amazing! Energy that had been long lost returned to his limbs, the fog from his mind cleared, and strength coursed through his body. He smiled he hadn't felt this alive in a long time. Sadly he was broken from his happiness by Piper squeezing his hand. Quickly Percy formed an air bubble over her face. Once he didn't have to worry about Piper drowning, he turned to face the Kraken.

The Draken stared at him with his one gold eye and his one concreted eye. Suddenly and presence brushed against his mind. "Sea god? Poseidon? Too small. Edible? Possibly. Hungry! Frozen too long! Must eat. Demigod. Edible? Perceus, bad. Fear. Should I?" Thoughts raced through the Krakens mind. Fear of being frozen again, confusion, and a raging thousand year old hunger.

Percy pushed his own thoughts against the Kraken, he wasn't sure how much he'd understand. Hopefully enough to know that they were friends. "Peace Cetus. I will not hurt you. My name is Perceus, but I am not the one who froze you. I am not Poseidon, but I am his son. If you are hungy we will feed you and we will protect you, but only if you are no threat to us." Percy looked at Piper and saw her staring at him in shock. She must have been able to hear their little mental conversation.

"Safety? Food? Exchanged for compliance? Lies. Told lies before. Hurt. The princess Andromeda. Perceus. Lies." Percy remembered the myth. Thee mother of Andromeda had bosted that Andromeda was more beautiful than the neriads. That had made Poseidon angry. So Percy's father decided that he would need the sacrifice of the woman's daughter. Perceus (his name sake) saved Andromeda from you guessed it, the Kraken. Perceus killed the Kraken by turning it to stone with Medusa's head. The Kraken had went out with a promise from Poseidon that he would only be getting a free meal. And ended up spending thousands of years as a statue. Way to go dad, Percy thought sarcastically.

"No. Not lies. I swear on the Styx."

"Hand. Bags of food? Hungry. Promises. Agreed."

Percy smiled. "No, not food. We were going to use them if our conversation turned rotten. We have no need of them. They are only full of flower, not food. We will get you food as soon as we can. Promise. Will you help us? We will give you food right after."

          "Yes."

Percy was happy. Instead of killing the monster, he was able to bargin with it. And no doubt Cetus would be a very valuable allie. Percy grabbed a nervous Piper's hand and dragged her towards Cetus. Piper hesitated, but with a little encouragement she grabbed on to one of the spines on Cetus' head. Faster than even Percy could manage they shot through the water. They went around the bow of the ship and Cetus rose his head out of the water. The energy Percy had left. And all of his aches and exhaustion returned full force.

"Styx! Percy look!" Piper shouted. Percy looked and what he saw was horrible. Polybotes and his crew of immortals were whooping their friends podex's.

Time to see what are new allies is capable of. Percy though. And with that they joined the battle.
