It was the day of auditions for the new year. It was Beca's second year and Chloe's fourth of the Barden Bellas. Chloe had twisted her ankle over the summer, and she was finally out of the cast. She still couldn't walk for long periods of time, but she was glad to be off her crutches.
"Shoot!" Chloe said, noticing she had forgotten some papers in her dorm room.
"What's wrong?" Beca asked as she sat down next to Chloe.
"I left some papers in my dorm. Would you mind running to my room and grabbing them for me?" Chloe begged.
"Fine." Beca said, rolling her eyes.
"Here are the keys. You know where my room is, right?" Chloe said, handing Beca the keys.
"Yeah." Beca said.
Beca ran out of the auditorium and started to run across the campus. Halfway there, she ran out of breath and had to walk the rest of the way. That left her plenty of time to think. Think about how to ask Chloe out and whether or not Chloe liked her back.
Beca began to hum Titanium. She thought of Chloe standing naked in front of her almost a year ago. That was the moment she really felt a connection between them.
She eventually arrived at the dorm. She walked into the lobby and saw Chloe's hairbrush sitting on one of the end tables. She must have left it there in her rush to leave. Beca grabbed the hairbrush, and made her way upstairs. She unlocked the door and entered the room. Chloe's desk was a mess, and her bed was unmade. Chloe had the bottom bunk and her roommate, who was never there, had the top bunk. She put the hairbrush on Chloe's bed, hoping Chloe would notice, and looked through the piles of papers. She found what she was looking for. She stepped over the pile of dirty laundry and left the room, locking the door behind her.
As she walked back to the auditorium, she felt like someone was following her, but every time she turned around, nobody was there. She tried to let the feeling go, but she grew more and more anxious. She stopped and looked behind her. Nothing. She turned back to face forward and standing in front of her was a familiar face. The last thing she remembered was darkness.
