Chapter 12

Beca was nervous to meet Chloe's family. The day had come and they were driving to her parents' house. They were listening to Beca's music and Chloe was driving.
"Hey, have you talked to your mom lately?" Chloe asked Beca.
"Yeah." Beca said.
"Well? Did you tell her you want to meet your sister?" Chloe asked.
Beca turned away and looked out the window.
"You didn't, did you?" Chloe said.
"No." Beca said, defeated.
"Becs you have to tell her."
"I know, tomorrow."
"Promise?"
"Promise."
They sat in silence.
"Hey, can I plug in my phone?" Chloe asked.
"Chlo." Beca whined. Chloe's playlist consisted of the cheesiest songs Beca had ever heard.
"Please." Chloe begged.
Beca rolled her eyes and plugged Chloe's phone in and put it on shuffle.
When they arrived Chloe climbed out of the car and went to open Beca's door. Beca hesitated, but eventually got out of the car and walked to the front door with Chloe.
Chloe rang the doorbell and a young woman answered. She looked exactly like Chloe, but had blonde hair.
"Lucy!" Chloe yelled and hugged the woman.
"Chloe!" Lucy yelled.
"Lucy, this is my girlfriend Beca." Chloe said.
"Hello Beca, I'm Lucy." Lucy said.
"Hi." Beca said shyly.
"How are you feeling?" Chloe asked Lucy as they walked inside.
"I'm alright." Lucy said.
"What happened?" Beca asked.
"I have schizophrenia. I was in a mental hospital for a while, it was terrifying. I'm just happy to be home." Lucy said.
"Wow." Beca said.
"Yeah, it sucks." Lucy said.
"Anyway, where's Mom, Dad and Allie?" Chloe asked.
"They're at the store. They'll be back." Lucy said.
And as if on cue, Mr Beale, Mrs Beale and Allie came through the back door.
"Chloe! Hello!" Mrs Beale said.
"Hi Mom!" Chloe said.
"Is this Beca?" Mrs Beale asked.
"Yes." Chloe said.
"Hi Mrs Beale." Beca said and waved.
"How are you darling? You've been through so much." Mrs Beale said.
"Ok." Beca said and took a deep breath.
"Wait, what happened to Beca?" Lucy asked, confused.
"Lucy, didn't you hear? Beca was kidnapped and beaten. Dude, she was in the hospital for three weeks, that's where Chloe was." Allie said.
"That was Beca?" Lucy said.
"Yeah." Beca said. "It was me."
"Can I hug you?" Lucy asked.
"Um... Yeah?" Beca said.
"I wanted to make sure it was okay with you." Lucy said and hugged Beca.
They all sat down on the couch and they all talked for a while. The kidnapping came up again and Lucy became very curious.
"Beca can I ask you a few questions about what happened?" Lucy asked.
"Sure. I guess so." Beca said.
Lucy took out a pen and a notepad.
"First question, do you know why she did this?" Lucy asked.
"Yes, she said I was 'taking all of my father's attention'." Beca said.
"Okay, jealousy." Lucy said and wrote something on the notepad. "Next question, what did she do to you?"
"Well she kidnapped me and beat me. Then right before Chloe saved me..." Beca paused. "She tried to kill me, but my dad and Chloe arrived right in time. When the doorbell rang, it startled her and she scratched a line all across my back with the knife."
"Wow." Lucy said, trying to write everything down.
"May I ask why you're interviewing me?" Beca asked.
"I want to be a lawyer. I used to be in law school until I had a really bad episode and completely flipped out. It was pretty bad, I felt like I was trapped and voices kept telling me I would never get out. Anyway, I want to go back to law school and your story fascinates me."
"Oh... Okay." Beca said.
"May I see the scars on your back?" Lucy asked.
"Lucy!" Chloe said.
"It's okay, I don't mind." Beca said. "Chlo can you give me a hand?"
Beca turned around and Chloe lifted up Beca's shirt to reveal the diagonal scar that ran across Beca's back.
"Wow." Lucy said, and wrote down some notes.
Chloe pulled Beca's shirt back down and Beca turned around. Chloe gave her a kiss.
