Ch. 19

💢Chapter 19:
KAYLAS POV:
Tuesday. Not even halfway through the week and I was more and more anxious for break. But today was a special day. It was Cody and I's one month. I couldn't wait until after school to see him. We haven't really talked much about it though and I don't recall us having plans so maybe just something a little simple tonight.
"So what'd you get Cody for your anniversary?" Alyssa nudges me at lunch.
"I saw him looking at a new watch when we went to the mall once so I went back to get it." I smile.
"Aw! You must really like him to get him that for your one month."
"He's special Lys." I smile.
My next two classes dragged on. Time was just to slow during school. By the time the bell rang I practically ran out of the school. When I go out front I see Cody leaning against his car across the parking lot. To my surprise, I wasn't suppose to see him until later.
"What are you doing here?" I ask hugging him.
"Thought I'd surprise you." he smiles.
"I have an interview in a bit if you want to come. It won't be long."
"I thought you cleared today?" I ask.
"I couldn't. I have this one interview but the rest of the day I have off." he smiles.
"Hey Kayla! Is this your new little friend?" Aaron and his crew make there way over to us. Some people stopped to watch what was going on, and some people stopped because it was Cody Simpson in our school parking lot. Not something you see everyday.
"Aaron, didn't I tell you I was done with you?" I roll my eyes.
"I never said I was though." he goes to reach for my arm. Cody quickly steps in recognizing who Aaron was.
"Keep your hands off of her." Cody sounded pretty pissed. This is our day, why was Aaron trying to ruin it?
"What you gonna do if I don't?" Aaron inches closer to him.
"We don't need to make a scene here, but if I find you ever trying to be around her I will come after you. Leave her alone." Cody was pissed. Aaron puts his hands up and walks away slowly.
"Get in the car, were leaving." Alright, now Cody was annoyed. Great. I climb in the car and Cody begins to drive off. I reach over resting my hand on his shoulder.
"Cody let it go. Don't let it bother you okay?" I feel him relax a little. He nods and lets it go.
We stop at my house so I can change before the interview. I throw my backpack on my bed, opening my closet and pulling out a new outfit. I brush through my hair and fix my make up.
"Kayla come on! I can't be late!" Cody shouts from downstairs.
"Coming!" I pick up my small throw over bag, putting my phone, house keys, and Cody's present inside of it.
I run downstairs and join him back at his side. We quickly leave going to the place where his interview is at.
"They might ask about you today." I was surprised by his words. Its almost been a month and they haven't asked Cody about me yet. Is this why Cody wanted to bring me?
"Is this why your bringing me?" I ask.
"Maybe. But I just want you there." he smiles. I ignore it and change the subject.
"Do we have any plans tonight?" I ask.
"Not really. Just chill at the house. Mum and dad will be out with friends tonight. So Alli and Tom will be there." I nod as his response. Low key. We pull up to the studio of his interview. Luckily this wasn't a long interview and it was one just for some youtube channel. We walk in hand in hand.
"Cody! And you must be Kayla! I'm Jen, the producer of the show, come this way and we will get everything settled." she smiles. We follow her and I stay behind the cameras while he stands with the host as the prep to start.

"Welcome Cody! Great to see you!" the host greets him.
"Good to be here." the interview went on about the same things only a lot quicker. They played some type of game about the first thing that comes to mind when a word is said, and they ask him a few questions from the fans. The one everyone was waiting for, comes at the end.
"Lastly! Cody, your fan's want to know. Are you dating anyone?" the host asks. I felt myself shaking just a little and Cody looks at me before answering.
"Yes I am." he smiles at me, then the host, and looks down at the table in front of him. Hearing him finally say it was one of the best things to hear.
"Many people figured it out, and I am dating Kayla Brooks. I have been for awhile now." he finishes.
"Alright! Well thanks Cody! And you heard it here Angels! Cody is no longer single! Thanks for watching!" the host signs off and I make my way back to Cody's side again and he slips his arm around me.
"Thanks for being here today Cody. Nice meeting you Kayla." the host smiles. We say our goodbyes and make out way out the studio.
When we get to his house I see Alli watching tv, and Tom must be upstairs playing video games. Alli jumps off the couch and joins me at my side while Cody goes upstairs to change.
"Should we make pasta?" Alli asks. She was willing to help me make this night a little special.
"Sure." I agree.
While cooking we were talking about Cody and I.
"I got him a present." I tell her.
"Let me see!" she squeals. I get my bag and pull out the watch.
"Damn Kayla! He's gonna love it!" I laugh at her and put it back.
"He hasn't said much about today. I guess he wanted to keep it low key."
"Well he is a chill person, and my lame brother so probably." Alli jokes.
Alli sets up the table for Cody and I and I place the food down when she's done.
"Cody! Dinners ready!" I call for him.
"I'll go upstairs." Alli smiles. Cody makes his way to the diner room and takes a seat.
"Thanks beautiful." he smiles.
"Your welcome."
We make conversation while eating until it goes into a silence.
"So.. Do you have anything to tell me?" I smirk.
"Hmm.. Not that I know of." he thinks.
"Do you know what today is?" I asked.
"Don't tell me its your birthday... In my defense, I never asked when your birthday was in the first place!"
"No..."
"Oh.. Well then.. Is today suppose to be a special day?" he asks. I was shocked but confused thinking he was messing with me.
"Are you serious?" I ask.
"Am I missing something?" he asks confused. I get up from the table placing the watch I bought him in front of him, throwing my bag over my shoulder.
"Your welcome Cody." I say angrily. He looks at it surprised and watches me walk away.
"Kayla wait!" he grabs my arm before I can open the door.
"What was that for? And what am I missing here?" he motions to the watch. I pull my arm from his grip.
"Call me when you figure it out." I leave slamming the door behind me. I hear him call my name as I keep walking but I don't turn around. How could he forget? I thought he knew. That explains why he didn't cancel that interview. Or why he hasn't said "Happy Anniversary."
CODYS POV:
I called Kayla's name continuously but she wouldn't turn around. I tried thinking of what made her so mad but I couldn't figure it out. I shut the door, turning around to see Alli standing at the bottom of the stairs.
"Can you explain to me why she was mad??" I ask confused.
"You really don't know?" Alli seemed shocked. I shake my head no.
"Its your one month anniversary Codes..." Alli answers.
How could I forget? It completely slipped my mind. Was that why she was asking about plans today? Why she was irritated when I said I had an interview? I just made a major screw up. One of the most important events, and I forgot. I had no plans, I didn't have anything for her and she gave me a watch I've been wanting... I feel like the most terrible boyfriend in the world.
