The Only Hope For Me Is You *Johnny x Ponyboy*

Caught

    Me and Ponyboy groggily walked into his house and quietly shut the door behind us, trying our best not to wake up Ponyboy's brothers, Darry and Sodapop. Pony yawned and gestured towards the couch.

"You can sleep there tonight if you want too. I'm going to sleep on the floor, don't want to wake up Soda or else he'll tell Darry I was out." He said, gathering a couple blankets up for me and him.

"Why were you out so late anyway?" I inquired.

Pony glanced over at me and shrugged. "You know me, always out when I'm not supposed to be out. Be lucky I was out so late, because if I wasn't, you'd be dead Johnnycakes, and we can't have that happen, now can we?"

I flinched and nodded. "Yeah...I already almost died once, and I'm not gonna let that happen again." Pony stopped what he was doing and tensed up.

***AN: skip if you want, it's just a description of what happens and how Johnny survived it***

About 3 months ago me and Ponyboy got into a fight with a couple socs. We didn't want to get into a fight, it just...sorta happened. A couple hours before that fight, me, Ponyboy, and our buddy TwoBit were walking home a couple girls who happened to be socs, but they were nice and we figured we could walk them home. Well, there boyfriends saw them and forced them to ride home with them, but since they didn't bother us, we figured there'd be no trouble

Well...there was. Me and Ponyboy had went to the park later that night, only to be met with a car load of socs. Apparently their boyfriends didn't like the fact that we were 'picking up their girls' and wanted us to pay for it. Pony accidentally started the fight by spitting at them, which caused one of them to grab Pony and start drowning him in a fountain while another one named Bob came after me.  I didn't know what to do...So I panicked and stabbed Bob. He died almost instantly from blood loss. All the socs ran and I just sat there, staring at the mess I had made.

    Ponyboy had passed out from nearly drowning, but when he woke up and saw what I had done, he immediately threw up. We both quickly decided to run away, or else we'd get caught and get jailed. Our friend, Dallas Winston, helped us run away. He gave us some money, a gun, and a plan. The plan was he hide out in an old abandoned church on Jay mountain until he got there, so we did.

    A lot of things happened in that church. We both cut off most of our long hair and Pony bleached his in hopes of not getting caught by the fuzz, all we did that week was eat bologna and play cards. Well, Ponyboy read Gone With The Wind to me, but you guys know that. I had gotten a lot closer to Pony those 5 days, and I still don't know whether I should be happy or not about that.

    Well, Dally (that's his nickname) came and took us to get some food while we came up with more of a plan. I decided to turn myself in, much to Dally's dismay. But once we got back to the church, it was in flames. We soon found out that there were 5 children trapped inside the place, so of course, Pony ran inside and tried to save them, and I followed suit.

   We managed to save the children, but not without getting hurt. Once Ponyboy got out, half his back was on fire, but Dally managed to put the flame out, and knocking Ponyboy out in the process. Once he took care of Pony, he ran over and tried to help me. I could feel the flames coming closer to my body as I tried to escape. I head a loud crack! And something had fallen to the ground, which caused me to fall to the ground and my arm immediately started to hurt badly, like someone had snapped it in two. It took forever to get up, but once I did, Dally had grabbed me by my jacket collar and dragged me out of the church. I passed out soon after.

    I later woke up in the hospital with third degree burns all over my body and a broken arm from the fall I had suffered. The doctors said that I had only a 30% chance of living because of how many burns I had...but I did. Everyone in the gang keeps calling me Miracle Child now, which bothers me greatly. There's times I had wished I had died, but no one knows this except Pony.
