You are probably going to die.
How is this going to happen?
Well, let's not get ahead of ourselves, shall we?
Your name is ___ ____. You are a member of the troll species on the planet Alternia. You enjoy hiking outdoors, spending time with your moirail Kanaya Maryam, and devouring any unfortunate sugar-based product to come across your path. Any further enjoyments you have will either be revealed in time, or are none of anyone's business but yours.
What will you do?
You could stay inside and enjoy a nice book. But why the hell would you do that? It a perfect night outside! Considering this is the stormy season, and that you hate storms and greatly prefer clear weather, there is absolutely no reason why you should waste this opportunity. You retrieve your hiking supplies, calling for your fox lusus to accompany you. She loves hiking, and can walk as long as you-despite being only the size of your knee. Your hive is located on the outskirts of a lush forest, bordered by an obscenely large mountain which you like to scale every now and then. The stones on it are loose, but you don't worry. Nothing bigger than a bit of scree has ever come down in all the sweeps you have lived here.
You set off down the trail you have worn into the ground with your feet, happily heading out into the forest.
___, be the oblivious troll in the middle of the woods. Unfortunately, you are often oblivious to what surrounds you, to the unending annoyance of your friends.
Little do you know, today that character flaw will be the end of life as you know it.
You have spent the majority of the evening clambering over fallen trees and rocks, occasionally scrambling up a tree for fruit or to pinpoint your direction. You are quickly miles away from your hive, and, of course, no one knows where you are.
The large rock hurtling toward you goes unnoticed until the sound of crashing incites your curiosity-and your fear. You turn, eyes widening as the towering boulder rolls toward you with dizzying speed, then attempt to flee in a perpendicular direction. However, you trip over a root sticking from the ground, crashing unceremoniously to the ground directly in the danger's path. The rock becomes louder, closing in, terrifying you with its noise, and you fearfully realize there isn't time for you to get up. Sharp teeth grip your shoulder as Foxmom attempts to pull you out of the way, but she is just too small to move your mass as she did when you were a wriggler. She is unable to pull you very far on her own, and in a panic you try to help her by crawling.
A scream rips from your throat as a searing pain radiates up your right leg. You feel teeth ripping through your shoulder as Foxmom jumps back in surprise, unable to pull you with her with the weight crushing your limb.
This is the point where you lose consciousness, the large stone holding you pinned to the ground. After several unsuccessful attempts to revive you with licks and nips, Foxmom dashes off to get help.

You open your eyes to near darkness, where only a small candle is burning on the table beside your recuperacoon. How did you get here, you wonder? Had all of that been a dream? You try to pull yourself out of the slime, groaning as your muscles ache in protest, and let yourself fall back down when the strain becomes too much.
Suddenly the door opens, letting in a very worried Foxmom and revealing a few trolls on the other side. Kanaya makes her way in, shooing Nepeta and Equius away despite their concerned protests and closing the door. She slowly turns and walks over to you, a hesitant look on her face.
"Hello, ____. How Are You Feeling? If I May Ask Are You In Any Significant Amount Of Pain? And Can You Remember What Exactly Has Happened To You?"
You pause, the nightmare of the huge stone seeping more coherently into focus, making you shiver. "So that wasn't a dream?"
"Unfortunately I Am Afraid That It Was Not."
"But, if it wasn't, then how am I still here?"
"A Few Days Ago Your Lusus Appeared At Nepeta's Hive And Proceeded To Run About Rather Agitated. When She Could Not Understand What Your Lusus Was Attempting To Communicate Nepeta Called Tavros Over To Assist In Translating. He Was Able To Tell Her What Had Happened And With The Help Of Equius They Were Able To Free You From The Boulder, Which Had Likely Loosened Itself Due To The Rainy Conditions Outside And Had Stopped Itself Atop You When It Rebounded Off The Trunk Of a Tree It Could Not Topple."
"Tavros?" You did not know Nitram very well. He was often shy around you, unable to speak more than a few words in your presence. You wonder why? He seems so sweet-and adorable! Not that you would let him hear you say so.
"Wait-a few days ago?" you suddenly realize.
"Yes. You Have Been Unconscious For About Three Days Now And Everyone Has Been Exceedingly Worried About Your State Of Well Being. And Also I Should Probably Mention That While They Were Able To Rescue You From A Certain And Impending Doom The Trio Was Unable To Save, Well, All Of You."
"What do you mean?" You look at Kanaya's wary expression with a little unease of your own.
"Perhaps It Is Better I Show You What I Mean. But Please Attempt To Remain Calm While I Do. We Do Not Need The Others Breaking Into The Room If You Should Have A Moment Of Hysteria." Kanaya proceeds to slowly lift you out of the soper slime, setting you gently on the edge of the entrance hole and exposing a large metallic object by your hip. It takes you a moment to realize that it is a leg-your leg!-what happened to your leg!?! You open your mouth, prepared to begin yelling profanities and questions, but a look from your moirail shuts you up before you begin. Right. Remain calm.
You manage a shaky "What..." in response.
"I Am Afraid That your Right Ligament Was Completely Unsalvageable And I Was Left With No Other Option Than To Remove It." She held up her lipstick to promote her point, which you damn well knew could turn into a chainsaw. "After Much Discussion And Argument Equius Was Persuaded To Build You A New Limb Just As He Had For Tavros. He Will Discuss With You Later On How To Properly Care For It. Moreover He Has Assured Me That It May Take You Some Time To Adjust To Maneuvering About Your Hive With The Artificial Limb, So In The Meantime I Am Going To Have To Insist That You Stay Near It In Case You Come Across Trouble."
"What?" You whine, disliking the idea of staying away from the woods.
"____ Do Not Give Me Any Trouble On This. I Will Not Hear Of You Endangering Yourself Yet Again In Under A Month." You could see the worry in her eyes and reluctantly agree, not wanting to upset your moirail more than you already have. You could put up with being trapped near your hive until you can control your leg. You know you can! You will just have to deal with being bored for a while...e
