"Seriously?" I asked incredulously, hurriedly opening the car door once we were safely parked so that I could gape even more at the nameplate of the place we were at.

It was taunting me; the brightly lit logo warring with the equally bright lights of the building behind it.

I can't believe he took me here, of all places! How assuming!

I should have known earlier when we started going down the familiar road, but I was too giddy in his presence to even notice. He started taking a turn into the one place in the city that I wasn't very fond of.

With my mouth still hanging wide open, I took a chance and turned to look at him. He was looking back at me with a confused expression as he stood right next to me.

Realizing that he was probably having one of those moments, I decided to speed up his thinking process for him.

"Smallville 21? Really? Did you think I was that easy?" I exclaimed with a slight cringe and a ton of agitation. I was tapping my foot lightly on the concrete sidewalk, patiently waiting for a response.

I waited for a while for him to let that sink in, and when the realization finally dawned on him, a panicked expression spread through his face, making me feel a little triumphant. But it was gone before I knew it, quickly replaced with his signature smirk, and the fury in me flared up again.

"Is that what you were thinking?" he asked, a ghost of a smile playing on his lips.

When I looked away and didn't answer, he started laughing hysterically. I flushed, knowing fully well that I was turning as red as a tomato as I watched him clutch his stomach in laughter.

Does he seriously think this is funny?

"Are you done?" I asked after a few seconds, slightly enraged but still very much embarrassed at the same time.

He continued howling in laughter.

God, the nerve of this guy.

I adjusted my shoulder bag and held on tighter to the books in my hands, preparing to walk away when he suddenly grabbed me by the arm.

"Hold up a second, I'm sorry!" he said, a mischievous smile still lingering on his lips as he tried to keep a straight face.

I didn't answer, trying to look mad when deep inside I was still too embarrassed.

"Look, I wasn't suggesting anything by stopping here, okay? We're just here for the parking. I meant to take you over there anyway," he said, pointing over to the larger building in the near distance.

My eyes traced his finger to see what he was pointing at, and when I finally did, I couldn't do anything but stare at the familiar commercial building with an open mouth.

I almost felt like melting down on the ground.

"Oh God," I murmured to myself, covering my face with both of my hands. I heard David let out a few soft laughs as he walked closer to me, gently prying my hands off my face with his.

"Hey, it's okay. You don't have to be embarrassed," he said softly, and I could almost hear the comfort in his voice.

Slowly, I let him pry my hands off, and a warm feeling started spreading across my chest when he held them gently in his.
