chapter six
Jared's Point of View

A week after Shay ran away, the pack has been a bit of a mess, I just realized how lazy the members of my pack are and always depending on Shay to do things for them, but now that she's gone, they have to do shit by themselves until we find someone who is actually willing to be a maid for more than a hundred of people.

That is one of the disadvantages of Shay being gone, as for the advantage, at least I don't have to look at her face with full of remorse of what damage I have done to my own sister, I love her, I do, but after what she's done to our father? I just can't accept that it was so easy for her to stab him with a silver knife, and the fact that she even touched a silver is beyond me. I needed explanations, but she kept on denying she did it, even though she was caught red handed.

Cassidy hasn't been out of her room for a week, I don't think she has eaten anything, what scares me is that she could die of starvation. That girl is just so stubborn. No matter how many times I knock on her door or tell her to open it, she just won't budge and curses me from behind the door. This life ain't easy, I'm telling you. I just need my whole family back, everything back to the way it was, I won't even complain if my father wasn't the Alpha, just as long as all of us are at peace, content and happy.

I stood up from my chair and went to Cassidy's room, knocking gently, "Cass, please get out of your room."

Cassidy surprisingly opened her door, I looked at her worriedly when I saw her sad eyes and the bags underneath it. She sighed and glanced at me, "Will you please leave me alone?"

"You know I cant." I said, "You know I won't."

"Jared, what do you want?" Cassidy asked, seeming exasperated.

I licked my lips, "I think you know what I want."

"Well, I want my best friend back," She started, "But, I can't have that now, can I?" She snapped at me, glaring, "Guess we all can't have what we want."

A scowl made its way to my face, "Cass..."

"Shut up, Jared." Cassidy sneered, "Unless you get me my best friend back, then you can live the rest of your life mateless." She hissed, slamming the door in my face, making me step back a little. I fumed at the door and clenched my jaw, I turned around and made a decision.

If finding Shay and being able to bring her back home will make Cassidy be mine, then I will do just that. Shay and I do still have an unfinished business, anyway.

Shay's Point of View

The twigs snapping behind me made me jump and hide deeper behind a large log that was leaning against another tree. My breath becoming heavy as the crunching of leaves on the dirt was growing closer.

I covered my mouth and screamed in surprise when someone grabbed my waist, I turned around and punched him in the face, kneeing his stomach, making him fall on the floor.

I watched him breath out a laugh and I raised my brow at him, "Damn, Shay." He panted, "That knee on the stomach was a knockout."

I rolled my eyes and helped Joe get up from the floor, "I didn't even give all my strength, Joe." I said, "You're a weakling." I teased, smiling at him.

"Pfft." Joe scrunched his nose, "I was just saying that to make you feel better." He lied in order to hide the fact that a girl brought him down on his back in a negative way.

"Right." I smirked.

"Anyway," Joe sang, "Nathan is now looking for you. Brian just mind-linked me."

I nodded my head, "Alright. Well, let's go back then."

We walked back to the pack house and I immediately went to Nathan's office, gently knocking on his door before opening it and peeking my head in. I smiled at him as he looked up from the papers he was signing. Other than being an Alpha, Nathan was a businessman, they own a large company of formal clothes, like dresses and suits.

The past week of staying at their pack house has been quite a blast, they were all nice and warm to me, Nathan have been the sweetest and was taking it as slow as I asked but we still haven't gone out for a date or anything like that.

"Hey." He smiled, standing up from his seat.

I smiled at him and went inside, closing the door behind me, "Hey, Joe said you were looking for me?"

"Yeah," Nathan nodded his head, "Where have you been?" He asked, approaching me.

"Joe and I were just slightly training." I laughed, "He went down easily."

Nathan laughed, "Oh yeah?"

I nodded my head, smiling, "So, why were you looking for me?"

Nathan smiled at me, "Well, I wanted to ask you if you wanted to go on a date with me?"

I started grinning, "Of course, I do."

He laughed in relief, "Okay."

"Alright," I said, "When do we go on this date?"

"Tonight."

I raised an eyebrow, "Tonight?"

"Yeah." He chuckled, "Why? Don't you want to?"

"Oh, no, I want to!" I exclaimed, blushing, "I do, I was just surprised is all. But tonight...Okay." I breathed out and gave him a soft smile.

"Okay, well, uh," Nathan stuttered, "I should go back to my work?" He said, but his tone coming out as if he was asking.

I laughed softly and nodded my head, "Okay."

"Uh, yeah, so..." Nathan trailed off.

I pointed my thumb to the door behind me and gave him another sheepish smile, "So, I'll be going. I'll, uh, see you tonight?"

"Yeah, yeah."
