chapter five

By the end of the day, I was finally a part of Nathan's pack, Dark Ace. It felt refreshing to start over with new pack, new friends and surprisingly a new mate. I just hope everything will go better than it did with my previous pack.

I looked around for Nathan but I couldn't seem to find him, I was walking around the house when someone bumped into me. I looked down and saw a cute little boy sitting on the floor, his face crunched in pain.

"Ow." He whimpered, pouting as he stood up, rubbing his behind.

I frowned a little, "I'm sorry, sweetie. Are you alright?"

He looked at me and smiled widely, "Yes, ma'am!"

I knelt down in front of him and smiled slightly, "You can call me Shay, what's your name?"

"I'm Conan!" He introduced himself excitingly, "Nice to meet you!"

"Hey there." I turned and saw Nathan approaching us, I stood up and offered him a small smile.

"Hi, Alpha!" Conan squealed.

Nathan smiled at him, "Hi, Conan."

"Oops, gotta go! My friends and I are playing hide and seek and I need to hide!" With that said, he ran off.

"He's full of joy, isn't he?" Nathan smirked, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Yeah," I smiled, "Do you know everyone in your pack or do you only know specific members?"

Nathan shrugged his shoulders, "I know a lot of them, I like to believe that I know all of them but I doubt that. I tend to forget names of my own pack members." He said sheepishly.

"What about Conan? You remember him." I said, leaning against the wall, looking at him curiously. "What's his story?"

"Conan's parents were warriors for the pack, his mom was one of the few female warriors we had, but after she gave birth to Conan, she died from too much blood loss. As for Conan's father, he died in a war when Conan was only two. I don't think the kid remembers any of it." Nathan frowned as he tells me the story.

I frowned, "The poor kid, who takes care of him now?"

"My parents, but I agreed on adopting him once I turn twenty one." He said.

I nodded my head, "How old are you, anyway?"

"I'm twenty."

"Cool. I'm seventeen." I smiled, "This is weird, I've been living here the past three weeks and we're asking each other's age." Nathan smiled, he took my hand and lead me deep into the forest, "Where are we going, Nathan?"

I looked around and saw a beautiful waterfall in front of me, "So?"

"It's beautiful!" I giggled, "I wanna go up there and go cliff jumping!"

"We could." He shrugged. "But we can do it next time, with the others so it'll be fun."

"Are you trying to say that I'm not fun to be around?" I teased, smiling.

"Maybe." He chuckled.

I glared at him, punching his arm playfully, "Maybe I shouldn't have joined the pack then."

Nathan held my fist that punched his arm and pulled me closer to his chest, "I was just kidding."

"I know." I rolled my eyes, "I'm not stupid, I know what joking and sarcasm means, Nathan."

He smiled and caressed my cheek softly, I smiled back and leaned against his hand, "Your face is so soft."

I giggled and rolled my eyes, "And you're a weirdo."
