I Can't Let You Go Back
Chapter 1
Today is the day. The day I take a trip to the United States as an exchange student. A couple students from our school here in England have been given the opportunity to study in the United States for a semester. There are ten of us, all from the same school who are in the exchange program. Five out of ten are headed to the United States, myself included, while the other five are headed to Australia. For some reason they separated the guys from the girls, so all the boys are headed to Australia, while the girls are going to the United States.
It's like a dream come truefor me, to go study in a different country for a little bit.
I was actually born in the United States; my parents told me that we relocated when I was four due to my dad's job. My parents work hard to make sure that I have the necessary things I need. We are not rich, but neither are we really poor. I love my parents very much and we are all really close.
Back to the trip, in about thirty minutes I have to get to the airport, where we will be boarding a direct flight to the States. My bags are packed and lay in the corner of my bedroom. Looking around my bedroom I try to think of anything that I may have forgotten. Nothing comes to mind. I'm really going to miss my bedroom. My room is very little, the walls are painted a light blue color, a twin bed rests in the far right corner, there's a dresser, and a desk on the left. The best part of my room is the little window seat, where I sometimes seat at night to stare at the moon. I have always beenfascinated with the moon, obsessed with it. I love the glow that it gives inthe dark.
"Kaylie, come out here now, we need to get to the airport!" my mum's voice yells to me. Walking over to my two bags I pick them up, I don't have much stuff, so I didn't pack a lot. I just packed the basic necessities like clothes, underwear, toiletries, couple books, and some other little stuff.
"Kaylie Blake Jennings come out here this instant!" my mum bellows. Crap, she used my full name, which means she's mad. I take one last look around my room, and then I hurriedly walk out the door with a sigh.
"There you are dear, come on," she says once she sees me, setting her light blue eyes on me for a brief second, while tucking a piece of her dark hair behind her ear. As mentioned, my mom has light blue eyes and dark brown hair. She's about 5'5", average height for a woman, and she has a small stature.
"Yeah mum," I mumble and walk to the car. My dad gives me a reassuring smile when I get in, his dark green eyes crinkling, and I smile back... Or at least I think I do.
The ride to the airport is short and quiet. Once we arrive at the airport, we head straight towards the departure lane, where I meet up with the other four girls- Rain, Marie, Kayla, and Antonia. Rain and I are really good friends, actually we are best friends.
"Hey Kaylie! Over here!" Rain yells to me waving her right hand in the process. As I make my way over to them, I take in Rain's appearance. Rain is sporting jean shorts that shows off her long slightly pale legs, a pink tube top with a white sweater over it, and pink gladiator sandals- typical Rain. Her long curly blonde hair is left down cascading over her shoulders down to the middle of her back. And her hazel eyes are filled with excitement. Smiling I reach them and rain pulls me into a hug, "I'm so excited!" she squeals loudly. Geez get a grip woman! I have sensitive ears!
"I guess so," I reply with very little enthusiasm. I should be jumping for joy right now. I guess I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.
