Chapter 18
"Oh my gosh this is so pretty!" Scarlett gushes, holding up a short green dress.
"You said that for the past twenty or so dresses," I deadpan. Melissa and Scarlett decided that it would be a good day to go shopping since it's a Friday and there's a party at Ian's 'bachelor pad'.
"Don't be a spoilsport," she pouts, widening her green eyes. Not again.
Shaking my head I decide to look away from that face before I end up caving. Melissa chuckles amused by this.
"Scarlett's right Kays, it's a pretty dress and you need to stop being killjoy," she jokes.
"You're siding with her!?" I gasp, playfully outraged.
Melissa shrugs and Scarlett pumps her fists in the air childishly, causing me to grin. It's wonderful watching their inner child surface sometimes. Sometimes we just have to let go and embrace it, live a little with no care for once.
Shaking my head I go back to looking through the rack of clothes. We've been shopping for about two hours now but I haven't even bought anything for tonight. I heard Ian's parties are the best in town. I'm not a party person but I want to go and have fun, you only live once.
"I found it!" Scarlet suddenly squeals, bouncing around frantically, holding something behind her.
"Well show us," Mel- I've decided to call Melissa that- beckons.
"Get ready to be astounded!" Scarlett warns, looking up at me while flicking her index finger at me at the same time.
"Right," I snort. We've already been through this. She'll find a dress, be all excited, tell me to get ready, and it will end up being a horrible looking dress, well in my opinion anyways.
"Have some faith in me Kays!"
"Seeing is believing Scarlett, so get on with it." I urge, tone uninterested.
She glares at me but proceeds to reveal the dress.
I was flabbergasted as I lay eyes on the dress.
"Yay!" Mel squeals excitedly, jumping over to Scarlett, congratulating her on a job well done, while I stand staring at the fabric.
It's a beautiful ocean blue color, fitted sequined bodice, sweetheart neckline, strapless, and a fitted skirt. All in all it's beautiful.
"Go try it on!" Mel suggests pushing me towards the dressing rooms. A smile tugs at the corners of my lips.
"Okay okay," I murmur taking the dress from her and entering the dressing cubicle. After taking off my current clothes, I slip on the fabric and it fits me like a glove.
Wow. I'm practically speechless.
"Well how is it!?" Scarlett asks from behind the door.
"Hold on a sec," I call back.
I lift my hand and untie my ponytail, letting my dark hair hang loose on my shoulders. I actually look decent. Okay now I can show them.
Sighing, I walk out of the room to my waiting friends.
"Ahhhh!!!" Scarlett screams, jumping up and down.
"Jeez woman!" I scold her,
"Sorry, it's just that... You look so... so..." she starts,
"What she's trying to say Kays is that you look so fucking sexy!" Mel interrupts.
I blush, flabbergasted that she had called me sexy. I knew I looked okay but I didn't think I looked that good.
"Thank you," I mutter anyways.
"No problem girl!" they both say at the same exact moment. And then they go on to argue. Shaking my head I walk back to the cubicle and change back into my regular clothes of skinny jeans and a crow neck shirt.
After we had bought the dress, Mel and Scarlett decided that I'll need new shoes too. So we went on to another store and Mel found me a pair of silver four inch heels. Bless her heart. After our shopping fiasco we decided to go out together and eat lunch. So we headed for the food courts and ordered a large meat lovers pizza to share.
"So what's up with you and Chase?" Mel asks after she swallows a bite of her pizza.
"We're dating," I answer, taking a slurp of my coke.
"I don't like him," Scarlett says,
"Why not?" I ask interested in what she has to say.
"You can do so much better than him," Mel adds, a slight frown etched onto her face.
What are they talking about? So they have history with him or something? That's got to be it...
"Let's not dwell on that peeps, we have a party with lots of hot guys to discuss!" Scarlett interrupts my inner ramblings, changing the subject. And with that said they both go on to discuss make-up to match my dress and how my hair should be styled.
Good lord, what have I gotten myself into? This should be good. Note my sarcasm.
