Chapter 29

"I used to belong to the lighting bolt pack. I was supposed to marry the alpha but your father was visiting and we discovered we are mates so I left with him against the wishes of the alpha and my family." my mum explains.

"But that doesn't explain Kaylie," My brother says confused.

"We think that the alpha is using Kaylie as a way to get back at us for what happened years ago." my father elaborates.

Well now it makes sense. Using Kaylie as revenge. Why now though?

"But why now?" my brother questions as if reading my thoughts.

Mum sighs, "The alpha did say he would get revenge but years have passed and your father and I have forgotten about it until now."

This is not even important. What's important right now is that at least now we can go get Kaylie back.

"Nick, contact Tyler and tell him to round up the fighters, we are going to pay a well deserve visit to the Lighting Bolt pack today." I address my brother and he nods immediately using the pack mind link to contact my Beta.

"Ian, I don't think it's safe to barge in on another territory!" Melissa, Kaylie's friend says.

"I don't recall asking for your permission or opinion!"

"You're right, don't say I didn't warn you then!" she yells back before gasping, seeming to realize her words.

"What did you just say?" I question as I stalk towards her by the edge of the forest.

She seems to fidget in her spot before replying, "Nothing, just thought you should be careful."

"You said something about a warning Melissa, don't play with fire!" I yell, not caring that the fighters in my pack have all stopped to listen.

"I didn't mean anything," she trembles in fear, by now I'm standing right in front of her, half an arms length away.

"Ian, she didn't mean anything by it, spare the poor girl." My beta almost begs. That's odd, since when did he care about others?

"Right. I'm on edge. Let's just go, I have a mate that needs rescuing."

We arrive on the borders of Lighting Bolt territory at around 6pm. The sun was already beginning to set in the horizon.

'Remember the plan, half on the north side and half on the south' I remind through the mind link. Half of my pack came here as wolves the others still in human form, including myself and my Beta.

"Ian, I think we should go this way. It looks like no guards are stationed." Scarlett, another one of Kaylie's friends suggests pointing towards the south.

'Remember what Kaylie said,' my wolf reminds me and I nod mentally at him. Good thing no one can hear our conversation, I can block them out.
