Chapter 32

A week goes by and we're back in school. With the past events, it's strange how I'm not the least bit shaken up. Quite shocking. Finding out that I'm a werewolf and my dad's an Alpha. Apparently a really awesome Alpha too. But like I told Ian, I did watch two friends burst into giant wolves once. I guess it eased the shock. Everything is back to normal now, well as normal as can be without Melissa and Scarlett. Can't believe I trusted those two and they betrayed me. Not as worse as Rain though. She was my best friend for the longest time.

"Hey, you okay, Kales?" Nick asks from across me at the lunch table.

"Yeah," I reply, rearranging my thoughts and smiling up at him before grabbing a fry from his plate,

"Oh why not have a fry Kaylie!" He says sarcastically.

"Well I thought you'd never ask!" I reply laughing and he soon follows suit, laughing with me.

"What's so funny?" Ian questions strolling up to me and settling down next to me. Placing an arm around my shoulder and kissing my cheek. Of course I blush like a tomato. As always.

"Kaylie, trying to be funny again." Nick tells him laughing. Ian chuckles and so does the rest of the lunch table.

"I am funny!" I pout, jutting out my bottom lip.

"Of course love," Ian leans in to kiss my cheek but I draw back before his lips can make contact. He sighs and leans back in his chair.

"Don't make fun of my girlfriend guys," he tells them and I smile. Girlfriend. I love the sound of that rolling off his tongue. Speaking of girlfriend, we have a date tonight. It's going to be our first date and hopefully we'll get to have it without any interruption. Remember last time? Yeah, not great.

*BRINGGG** the bell goes off indicating the end of lunch. Which means seniors can go home now.

"See you at home Kales," Nick smiles, getting up and picking up his now empty lunch tray on his way out.

"Bye Nicky!" I say and he growls. He hates that nickname, I wonder why.

I watch as Ian gets off his chair and holds out a hand for me which I take and offer my thanks. We walk hand in hand to his car and he opens up the passenger seat for me, closing it when I settle in the seat. A couple seconds later, he also gets in and starts the car, maneuvering out of the school parking lot.

Do you hear that? The sound of Silence. Well there is no sound for silence, you get my drift.

I reach my hand out to turn on the radio. 'We Are Young' by Fun feat. Janelle Monáe streams through it, diminishing the silence.

"I love this song," I mutter, leaning back in my seat and leaving the radio on at the current station.
