Maybe This Time

Chapter 16

-Caleb’s Time-

True to her words, Bernadette joined the production crew of the musical play. We don’t practice that heavily for now, since we are all preparing for the second grading examination at the end of the month. Sir Mark just told us to memorize our lines and the lyrics of the songs. It is the people behind the play, however, that are a bit busy for now. Currently, they’re coming up with the design of the set and other props.

After the exams? Semestral vacation! But it only lasts one week though. Boo hoo, I know. I think it’s just a quick break from school. Also, the sem break falls on the celebration of the All Soul’s Day, a time when the cemeteries become alive with people and everyone visits the graves of their loved ones who finished the journey of life first.

And so we went through the daily routines of a normal student. Wake up early so that we could come to school early and not face the disciplinarian’s evil glare and lecture… listen… listen… and listen some more… take down notes… do good in recitation since it can save your grade… eat and chill out with friends during the break… go home to study… do the numerous homework… sleep… and repeat the process over and over again. It’s quite annoying since you do everything over and over again until it feels more like an annoying habit. Well, there are still some rays of sunshine peeking behind the dark, stormy clouds of school life.

What are these rays of sunshine, you may ask? I think the proper question is who. Yep, the people around me make me happy especially a certain long-haired girl seated in front of me. I have to say we have been a lot closer than before. I’ve told her about Baby Bunny once, and she just squealed like a fan girl.

 

 

 

“Aw! How cute! You call her Baby Bunny? Why so?”

 

“Her hairstyle is usually the two pigtails look. She also likes to jump around. She’s pretty much a hyperactive little kid, and always smiling. She’s also a big cry baby. And so my nickname for her came to be.”

 

“Kyaah! How I wish I had a childhood friend like that. It’s really a very cute nickname. So I presume you’re the only one who can call her that?”

 

“Yep. It’s a special bond.”

 

 

 

A bond that I long to rekindle with you…

Currently, we’re having our group study in English since ma’am Degrasto already finished the lessons. We all took turns in giving out questions for others to answer. Since it’s a day before the examinations and all of our teachers are already done with the subjects for this grading, they pretty much let us review or do whatever we want with our time. We need to minimize our voices, though.

Before we knew it, we only need to take one last exam before we get our much awaited and much deserved break. The last obstacle?
