She ran. For her life and the hope of a better tomorrow, for the child she was carrying, for life...for life! The coins jingled noisily in the pouch she had attached on her belt. She evaded the common roads leading to the castle of Castamere and tried to ignore the screams of pain and the smell of fire burning flesh and everything in its path. Soldiers of crimson and gold ran past her as she hid on a crevice. Her heart was thundering in her chest and the child was starting to cry, she hushed him for dear life. When she saw the coast was clear, she ran once more, never looking back on the castle and the family she once served with her life.
"Protect him Waylona... Come dawn tomorrow, this hall will hold nothing but blood." The Lady Reyne kissed her sleeping son on his bed; her tears glistened like silver in the pale moonlight that seeped through the window. "May the gods grant him the mercy we will never have. Take him as far from Casterly Rock. Avoid the King's Road and King's landing, neither should you go to Highgarden. The Eyrie will do but the roads that lead to the Vale of Arryn are perilous and are haunted by the wildlings of the Mountains of the Moon." Lady Reyne picked him and carried him to her, his golden-brown hair glinting like bronze. "Go to Riverrun, Storm's End or Winterfell... follow the path that the gods will let you take. He is the last of this line..." Shouts and screams filled the air and the sound of a horn pierced the silent night.
AHOOOOOOOOOO
AHOOOOOOOOO AHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Each blow sounded more desperate than the last and the clatter of swords and mail and the pounding of the horse hooves filled the air. The Lady of Castamere hurriedly gave her the pouch of golden dragons and Waylona slung the bag containing the necessities they would need for travelling: stale bread, hard cheese, salt beef, skins of water and some clothes. "What about you m'lady? You can still escape." She stated nervously. "My place is here beside my lord husband. If ever I should be found missing, they would also find out that our heir has escaped and they will never stop to hunt us until we are brought down. No. It is safer that only he must go. You have served us well Waylona Storm. Should the gods favor to bring you back to your home, do not forget my son... Repay our kindness with your kindness. Now go!"
It was then that she ran. And she never stopped unless she had to hide. The wind was howling and the sky threatened to rain, the sweat that covered her only made her cold. Her sides hurt, how long has she been running? The screams faded and the smell of smoke and blood were growing faint. Come dawn tomorrow, this hall will hold nothing but blood. The words of Lady Reyne haunted her. Dawn... The dawn was already coming. How could it have come to this? Victory was assured. Lord Tytos was weak and not a man of war. Victory was assured aye...until his son Tywin Lannister lead his father's army. One treasonous act condemned House Reyne to genocide. "It's unfair." Waylona thought. Not every person in House Reyne raised its claws to oppose the Lannisters. They weren't even given a chance to redeem themselves and swear fealty to the Lannisters once more...
Once she was sure that they were far from Casterly Rock, Waylona made camp. They were concealed in the forest, so long as they don't make fire. The boy cuddled close to her. "Why are we here?" he asked. "Where are my lady mother and lord father?" His voice was shaky and her heart went to him. "They're far away little lord. Very far away, yet they watch you." She told him. She was tired and her feet ached, she wanted to snatch a little rest before they made their way to Riverrun, Storm's End or Winterfell or wherever the seven gods or the old gods would lead them but the little lord of House Reyne was not yet done about his inquiries. "Will I ever see them again?" he asked. "Someday little lord, one day, you'll see them again." She stroked his hair. "Rest yourself little lord... we have a long way later." He yawned. "I am Tyrence, you can call me that. You are my mother's hand maid right?" he laid down on her lap. "Goodnight Waylona..." She leaned back on the tree trunk. "Good night little lord..." May sweet dreams fill your sleep, she thought as she drifted to unconsciousness.
