Sans' eyes slowly opened, to the sound of his alarm clock. He reached over and literally punched the snooze button. It was a beautiful day outside. The birds were singing. The flowers were blooming. It was on days like these that kids like Frisk were playing outside, with their friends. But on days like these, Sans felt the strong urge to go back to sleep.

Why did the world have to be so happy on his worst days? Of course he'd had nightmares. That wasn't really surprising, though it definitely didn't help. It happened every night, of every week, of every month, and so on and so forth. Even Sans began to grow numb to watching his family die over and over again. And that fact barely even bothered him anymore.

He sat up slowly, very aware of the pool of sweat he was sitting in. Toriel, who usually did laundry, never questioned him about it once. He was grateful for that. She'd just collect the sheets, wash them, and put them back without a word about it. That's one thing Sans liked about her. She wasn't nosey. She respected everyone's boundaries, even Frisk's.

Not that that was surprising at all. Tori was incredibly nice to everyone, even her ex husband, Asgore. It's no surprise that Sans had a cr- um... Anyways. With great effort, Sans managed to haul himself out of bed. He grabbed his clothes and stumbled off to the bathroom he shared with Papyrus.

Ten people lived in the large, cozy home, Sans included. Pap, Undyne, Alphys, Toriel, Asgore, Flowey, Mettaton, Napstablook, and Frisk all lived there too. It was a little suffocating sometimes, having to keep a smile on his face every minute spent outside his room. Sometimes he wished he could just talk to someone who could understand what he was going through. But no one in the entire world could possibly understand.

Every day, hoping and praying to every religion that the universe won't be reset was really draining. Sometimes he just wanted it all to stop... Sans pushed away the dark thoughts, and took a brisk shower. It took awhile to dry off his bones. After washing up, getting dressed, and brushing his teeth, he stared into the mirror for several minutes. Even he could tell that his smile was fake, but hopefully no one else could. Having said that, he took a deep breath, and walked out of the bathroom.

He walked down the stairs, and into the kitchen, to find only one person. "Oh! Good morning, Sans!" Tori exclaimed. She sounded genuinely happy to see him.

"Heya, Tori. Where is everybody?" Sans asked.

She pursed her lips, as if she was thinking. "I believe they went outside on a walk, but to be honest, I'm not sure."

"Oh." He muttered.

He hadn't noticed that the smile had dropped from his features, until Toriel frowned, and asked, "Are you doing all right, Sans?"

"Y-yeah! Totally." He lied. She saw right through it.

"... I'm not trying to pry, but you certainly don't seem okay. Just remember that I will always be willing to talk to you about any problems."

He choked back tears as she said this. She didn't understand how harshly those words affected Sans. "Uh... O-okay... I really am f-" he gagged on the word 'fine', which really didn't help his case. "I'm okay."

"Very well. I believe you." She most certainly did not believe him, but being the type of person she was, she wasn't about to accuse him of lying.

"Thanks, Tori." Sans murmured the words, almost too quietly for her to hear.

Worry flashed across her face, before returning to a motherly smile. "But of course, dear."

And with the pet names. That drove Sans nuts, but not in an all bad way. He almost liked it when she called him 'lazybones', though it was much cuter when Frisk did it. Still, it was like she was egging him on, insisting that he could indeed like h-
