I hadn't know it was coming. But I guess everything comes eventually. Nancy. Nancy. I couldn't stop saying her name. Nancy. It just rolled off of my tongue. Naaaaancy. The way my teeth clicked together for the "n", when they slightly parted at the "y". I never deserved someone like her. Mama never would have approved. She never approved of anything. Except me in the kitchen, helping her roll the dough for the kekse and brot she made. Papa would have chased me out of the house with his gurtel, swearing that the devil took over my soul. But how could I resist her? After all these years, she was right there. She was my moon and my night, filled with stars. Her long blond hair, thin pink lips, crystal blue eyes. Her pale skin and soft, light laugh, every time I made a joke. The ever so lingering french accent on her tongue after years in American schule. And her voice. Oh god, when she sang, I could feel my heart melting. Singing about chansons and fleures de lys. From then on, she was my everything. And I never expected to meet her at the most unlikely place in the world.
