P.O.V. Jack.
Adelaide only said small words, nothing much just a quick I love you or okay most of the time. She reached 9010 kills already and is close to her goal. The rest of us are happy, well, how happy you could be after losing all those important people. Ryan was a mess ever since Matt was taken. No one knew where he was only that he was in the city."Let's camp here tonight." I say. Everyone picks their spot and just sits down. Mark and Felix had gotten some firewood as Robert and I where trying to lit it. Adelaide soon got it going and we all sat around.
"Shut up." Adelaide suddenly said. Everyone immediately shut their mouths not used to her voice anymore. Suddenly she shoots up.
"Hands up, don't try anything, I know there's three of you." She says pointing her gun at the woods. Sure enough three people walk out.
"Calm down, I know where your friend is." One of them says.
"Matt?" Ryan asks.
"Yeah." Another one says.
"Bring us to him." Ryan says.
"Hold on, it's dark, let's wait for tomorrow morning." Mark says and I nod.
"But, what do we do with them?" Ken asks.
"We'll tie them up, just to be sure." Adelaide says, suprising everyone, she hasn't said this much since that day. I grab some rope and we tie them against a tree, they don't protest and sit down themselves.
"I'll keep watch." Adelaide says.
"I'll go to, y'all, go to sleep." I say. I take a seat next to Adelaide on a fallen tree.
"How are you?" I ask her.
"I'm fine." She says a little annoyed.
"You sure?" I ask. She looks down and shakes her head. I wrap my arm around her. She cries a little, but in silence.
"It just, it just starts to sink in you now, now I sit down and think about it, I know they're never gonna come back again and that I almost lost him, and you again." She says. I feel so bad for her.
"Come here." I say. She crawls onto my lap and buries her face in my shoulder. Her tears stain my shirt but I don't care. She's important now. I hold her close as she throws it all out. Soon I feel her slipping away. I kiss her head and lay her on our sleepingbag.
The next morning we started moving early, like we said. Adelaide was walking with the one who said he new where Matt was, she had her gun pointed at his head and was ready to shoot if he tried something.
"We're almost there." The guy says as I nod my head. Soon we arrived at a big building where guards where already ready to fire.
"Stop right there!" One guard says. We stop walking.
"What are you doing here?" He asks coming closer.
"We're here to pick up a friend." I say.
"What's their name?" The guard asks.
"Matt." Ryan says quickly.
"Follow me." The guy says and starts walking towards the building.
"Only a few can come." He says.
"I'll stay out here." Adelaide says. Amy, Mary, Ken, Robert and Ryan stay out too. As we walk in I give Addy one last smile. She smiles back and then the doors close.
P.O.V. Adelaide.
I think we waited for like thirty minutes before they came back out. Ryan runs up to Matt and they hug each other. I give Jack a quick hug. Then my eyes fall on some unfamiliar faces. The three guys where gone and some other people appeared."Adelaide, this is Dan, that's Phil and..." My eyes lock with the girl's ones. She had the brightest green eyes in the family and I thought I would never see them again.
"Danny." I say as I walk up to her and hug her. She sobs in my shoulder.
"Have you seen Robert? Dad?" She asks.
"I had to kill dad..." I sigh. Robert runs up to us and joins the hug
"I had to kill mom." I look at my little sister, she was soo much younger than me and Robert, she was only 17. I take her in a big hug.
"It's alright, it's gonna be alright."
Soon we were walking again. Matt and Ryan where walking again and I haven't see Ryan smile like this in weeks. I was walking with Jack, Robert and Daniëlle in the back. I had my arm around Daniëlle as Jack was holding the other one. A growl sounds from behind. This could be it. I'm at 9999, this could be it. I let go of Jack and Daniëlle and take my bat. I wait for it to get close enough and smash it's head in.
"This is for everything you took from me." I scream and keep beating it until I can't anymore. I let myself fall on the pavement.
"That was for you." I whisper as I look up. It was for everyone I lost, everyone the others lost.
"Come on." Jack says. I grab his hand and he pulls me up. He hugs me and I hug him back.
"You alright?" He asks.
"Better than ever." I say. It wasn't sarcastic.
"Can we camp here tonight?" I ask. Jack nods.
"We're camping here." Jack says. Everyone nods and sits down. We start a fire and make the last bit of food that we have left. We enjoy it as much as we can. I give a bit of my food away since I can last a few days without and some need it more than I do.
"We'll make a quick run tomorrow, there's a supermarket close, who's in?" Mark asks. I nod.
"I'll go with 10K then." He says.
"I-it's Adelaide now, or Addy." I say. He nods.
"We'll go first thing in the morning." He says. I nod.
As we said Mark and I left first thing in the morning. We soon arrived at the supermarket and packed everything we could.
"I wanna ask Amy to marry me." He says. I smile. We search a ring and go back to our "camp". Fully packed again.
