Rayne's POV

My heart started racing and my palms became sweaty. My heart felt like it had dropped into the pit of my stomach, and I couldn't think of any way to explain anything to Jace.

"Fuck? Because it must really suck for you to have me find this shit out, right?" Jace said to me, his eyes stony and hard, and he was very obviously hurt.

"No, this fucking sucks because I wanted to tell you, but I promised him I wouldn't. It was nothing, it was just kissing. And I stopped it." I answered, knowing that my answer would only upset him more.

"Okay I get it now," he said, a mock smile on his face. "It was much more convenient to lie to me for him, but it sucks that he broke the promise to you, and told me." he said, his hands raised and then dropped in exasperation. "This relationship is really off to a great start." He said, and startled me when he knocked a frame off of his desk in frustration.

"Jace, stop. That is NOT what happened, alright?" I walked towards him, and reached my hand out to grab his, which he casually moved away. I dropped mine and ran my hands through my hair. "I fucked up by not telling you. I know I did, and that's why I stopped it. I told him that I cared about you. I told him that you and I needed to work, and I want this. That was the end of it. Jace, look at me." I said, a little more forcefully, and he locked his eyes with mine again. "I care about you. I've only ever been in one other relationship, and I'm not keen on the idea of messing around. I need something serious, and I need someone who wants this to work as badly as I do, and I want that to be you. I am so sorry." I continued, walking over and finally grabbing his hand in mine. "I'm sorry that you had to find out like this. I should have told you. I won't lie to you, or keep anything from you ever again. Forgive me, and let me make us work." I pleaded, my hand tight around his.

"Tell me it was nothing more than just kissing. Tell me you don't have feelings for him, and that you want ME. Tell me I'll never have to worry about anything like this, ever." He said, his eyes stony and hard.

"It was just kissing. I don't have any more feelings for him. Only you. I want you," I muttered, my heart aching at the thought of this ending so soon after I finally committed myself to him. He stared into my eyes for a long moment before finally sighing and moving away to sit on the edge of his bed.

"No more lies, Rayne. No keeping things from me. This is new to me, and I don't need to feel jealous or worried about trusting you this early on in our relationship, or ever, alright? So tell me you're sorry again." He said, a small smile finally gracing his lips.

I gave him a look that said you're an ass and knelt down in front of him, looking up at him.

"Can I apologize in more ways than one?" I asked, trailing my fingers along his waistband and thighs. He snorted and pushed me back, so that I fell onto my ass.

"Say you're sorry and let's go eat, and that's all I'm asking for." He said, holding a hand out to me. I took his hand and he helped me up. I put a hand around his neck and leaned in, kissing him softly.

"I'm so sorry."

"I forgive you, this time."

Demetri's POV

As badly as I had wanted to stay and hear the outcome of what I had started, Shelby made us leave to give them privacy. We got into the car and drove to my house, where we entered silently, and went to my room. My parents were bustling around the kitchen, but Shelby and I both didn't have it in us to pretend to be a happy couple for their sake.

I just really wanted things to go back to the way they used to be. I wanted to forget that I had ever liked a boy, and I wanted to go back to the first night Shelby and I made love, and feel that devotion to her. The love I had for her was still strong, but I didn't think I was truly in love anymore. Finding out that you liked a completely opposite gender apparently took its toll on every aspect of your life. We needed to talk about our future together.
