"I'm really glad you invited me." I said, as we danced to the music while our arms were wrapping around each other.
"I'm glad you came, this party wouldn't be one without you." she replied smiling and then her cheeks turning bright red as I smirked at her response. "I have to tell you something..." I started to say.
"What?" She softly asked.
"The reason I—" I was cut off by Fernando the leader of the mafia. I knew how he looked because Michael my father sent me photos of all of them, while Grace and I were on the plane.
I had to act like I didn't know who he was as Fernando was approaching us in the middle of the dance floor. People automatically moved to the side giving him a clear path towards us.
Grace turned around as she yelled his name in happiness: "Fernando!" Grace said as they both came into each others arms.
"How have you been Grace?" He asked her as he had a husky voice which made him sound even more imitating.
"Good, good. Oh! This is Caleb." Grace said smiling as she pointed at me. His eyes were now scanning my face as if he was trying to find something. Like if he knew I was hiding things from them. Like the fact I know who they are and why I actually came.
Surprisingly.... he was actually a decent person as he reached out to shake my hand. I thought he was going to kill me right there and then just because I was a guy hanging out with Grace; his cousin. His family which I knew very well Fernando is very over protective and will kill anyone he thinks will hurt them. "Hi, I'm Fernando." He said with a serious face.
"Nice to meet you, sir." I said while shaking his hand. "Grace I need you and Caleb to head on over to the ba—" Fernando was saying but was cut off as a loud noise occurred with the front doors opening wide and hitting the wall. There were men carrying weapons as they walked into the ballroom. People all around us freaked out when they saw the men and all started to run out the doors.
My first instinct was to grab Grace and head somewhere safe but immediately stopped in my tracts when my face snapped in Ivan's direction. Standing there like an idiot who knew needed to get to safety watched Ivan carefully. My jaw clench, muscles had felt tense, and with all my strength I held myself back from lashing out on him.
Memories started to flood into my mind:
"Ash! No don't go. Don't leave me." He started to look pale and he stuttered his words.
"I love y-you Caleb. May we—" He spit out blood from his mouth but he didn't give up in saying his last words "Meet a-again."
I know Ivan didn't pull the trigger; I know it was my fathers fault that Ash his son and my big brother became a target; I know Ivan a member of the Russian mafia ordered the kill; and I also know the killers were two gang members but I don't have information on who.
Ivan if I recall is the brother of Nikolai which is the leader of the mafia. Nikolai and Fernando are enemies, going back and fourth trying to kill each other. Although I'm on Fernando's side because I've heard the Russian mafia is ruthless and cold blooded when is comes to people. I know my brothers death along with others didn't matter or effect him in any way.
Fernando was talking to someone on the mic which I assumed because he certainly wasn't talking to us but I couldn't make out what he was saying. I was too focussed on Ivan as everything turned into slow motion.
