Nyx knelt down, raising the gun to her head. One last try, she thought, and the gun went off. Nyx fell back, her back hitting the ground roughly. The gun fell out of her hand, clattering to the floor. It was at this moment, Batman had finally broken through the plants surrounding her house. He had once been her friend and knew that when the plants started to get overgrown, Nyx was relapsing. He sprinted up to her room and found her lying on her blood stained carpet. He gathered her up in his arms and waited. Nyx was only dead five minutes. Her eyes slowly fluttered open. "Oh, hello B!" she said, masking her sadness. "Why you do continue to do this to yourself?" he asked. "It's because of what I've done and what I'm to do." They started to hear distant sirens. "Goodbye B," Nyx sighed, "I can't have you protecting me from my past." She started to walk out of the house. There were many police cars outside, and Nyx willingly went into one, waving at Bruce. He waved back before leaving the house. Vines started to grow all around the house, shielding it until its owner came back.
PRESENT
Nyx was one of the luckier Belle Reve prisoners; she had a bat looking out for her. He often sent her gifts, like plants or more comfortable clothes. She turned as someone opened the small window of her cell and slipped in a tray of food. On it were some stale bread, water and brown slop. She picked up the cup of water and went over to her many plants, giving them something to drink. The small buds bloomed in her presence.
"I am sorry, my darlings," she lightly touched the different petals, "You have no sunlight here." It felt cruel to keep such beautiful plants down in her dark, damp cell. With the remaining water, Nyx soaked some of the stale bread in it. When it had softened enough, she ate it. She always tried to eat the food they gave her; they would take her plants away if she didn't. The small window opened again. Griggs, the main guard, was looking in. "You have some visitors, Nyx." She stood up as the door opened, showing an African- American woman, a strongly built man and a small woman standing behind him. "Hello." Nyx said, "Why are you here?" "My name is Amanda Waller and this is Colonel Rick Flag." Amanda said, gesturing to the man beside her, "I'm assembling a team of bad people who could do some good." "And you want me on that team?" Nyx asked, "Why?"
"We have seen some footage of you and we know what you can do." "I don't want to cause any more destruction; I have dealt with enough pain to last a lifetime." Nyx humorlessly chuckled. "You could get out of here." Said Rick, trying to convince her to join, but Nyx shook her head. "Who said I wanted out?" Nyx turned away from the door, retreating back to her plants. Dr. Moone moved closer to Nyx, "I understand how you feel." She whispered, just loud enough for Nyx to hear it. Nyx looked June in the eyes and saw a spirit lurking behind them. She picked up one of the empty flower pots. She waved her hand over the top of the soil and grew a beautiful flower.
She picked it and held the flower out to June. "Take this, irmã. I will join your team, Amanda." June looked to Amanda and Rick, who nodded slightly, before taking the flower. "I would like to be alone now," Nyx said and turned away from the door again. She was clearly done talking to them, "Goodbye."
