Chapter 23

MARINA!

Marinas pov

I walked into the floor and went straight to my room. I quickly changed in to a cream coloured silk shirt and pants. suddenly I heard the elevator door ding and my name being called. must be finnick. I heard footsteps coming to my room. I quickly ran into the closet door shutting it after I grabbing the dress to make it look like I was never here. the door opened and I saw finnick walk in looking around. most likely looking for any evidence of me being in there but thankfully there wasn't.

"Marina!.... I'm sorry!" finnick yelled walking out of my room. I slowly opened up the door and didn't hear anymore footsteps. I walked out ever so carefully and opened the hallway door. it's too risky trying to get out like that. I looked around my room and saw the window. I can do this. I'm only like 4 stories up! I opened up the huge window and stepped onto the small ledge not bothering shutting the window, first mistake.I looked around and looked down, second mastake. I started to get panicky. seeing all the cars zooming by underneath me. I shot my head back up and jumped to the other ledge. steadying myself I jumped to another repeating that till I got to the fire escape which was 4 ledges away. I walked up the escape to the roof of the tall building just standing there admiring the lights of the capitol.... probably the only thing I like about the Capitol.

"MARINA!" I heard finnick yell full of panic from my bedroom with a lot of swearing coming from him. maybe I should have shut the window. Too late. After a while I didn't hear finnick yelling anymore. And finally I was in quietness.

"Don't worry mom, dad. I'll be with you soon." I sighed, "I promised katniss I would protect peeta. and that is what I'm going to do even if it coasts my own life. But what do I do with finnick? like I want him to win but I promised. Ugh.. mom, dad I just want you back. and don't worry. Andrea is good too. working a lot but good. I don't even know if she knows about the quell. or that I even got picked. but please just help her out when I'm in the arena. not me. I don't need help. I already know I'm going to die in the arena. I'll be with you soon. see you soon" after I finished I just laid down on my back staring at the stars. they aren't as big as they are at home but it's only because of the lights here. I can't believe I'm going in with no experience. this is stupid. groaning in anger I sat up.

"Marina!" I heads someone say. it's not finnick because it was a girls voice but it wasn't katniss' or Effie's voice either. I turned my head and saw Johanna. I quickly stood up facing her.

"Hey" I said

"There you are! finnick, peeta, katniss, haymitch, Effie and I were looking everywhere for you!" Johanna said

"Ohh. I just went for a walk" I said

"Ohh well at least your ok" she said

"I guess I am." I sighed

"Come on we need to tell finnick where you are" Johanna said grabbing my arm

"No! I want to be alone! with no one knowing!" I said trying to get out of her grasp.

"But finnick " she started

"Too bad!" I yelled finally getting out of her grasp with one huge pull. but sadly the pull was to hard and I started to tumble backwards toward the non fenced edge of the building

"Marina watch out!" Johanna yelled but I was already on the edge. I started to fall off. so this is how I die? not in the arena but falling from the building on the final day of being here?

"Marina! your ok!" I heard Johanna say. that when I noticed her grabbing my foot pulling my up. I looked back down and saw the cars zooming by. then I looked at the window that I was facing and saw that it was the districts 12 floor. in there it saw haymitch, peeta and katniss in there looking around. most likely for me.

"G-guys... I found her!" I heard slightly peeta said pointing in my direction. they slowly look over and see me dangling. I wave at them and they are just frozen with a shocked face. then they ran over to the stairs.

"Marina. how are you doing?" Johanna said trying to pull me up.

"I'm good. you? " I asked

"Good. can you try to give me your hand. it might be easier" she asked and I pulled my arm up to her. she grabbed it and let go of my leg making my swing my body 180 degrease.

"Marina!" I heard katniss say and peeta, haymitch and her ran over to us

"Ohh hey guys" I said

"What are you doing?! haymitch yelled

"Ohh you know.... just hanging out" I said making peeta laugh a bit

"Here give me your other hand" peeta said and I threw my other hand up to him. but he missed my arm

"Guys! she's slipping!" Johanna yelled and I felt my hand slipping from hers. then all at once my handslipped. I felt a bit of a falling sensation but it stopped. I looked up and saw peeta holding katniss by the feet and katniss grabbing my hands. slowly peeta pulled katniss up and then they all got me up. once I hit the ground of the roof I hugged the ground and kissed it.

"I love you ground! I love you!" I yelled kissing the ground. then I looked up and hugged haymitch, katniss, peeta and Johanna.

"Thank you guys... I would have died if it wasn't for you!" I said crying

"It's ok. now let's get you to your floor" Johanna said putting an arm around my shoulders. that's when I noticed that I was shaking badly. I was actually really scared. but yet again why wouldn't i be! I just almost fell from 12 stories up! we all went down the stairs and got into the lift Johanna still with her arm around my shoulders and me still shaking like a chihuahua. the door finally opened and Johanna lead me to the couch. She sat me down and sat beside me still having her arm around me trying to calm me down... but it wasn't working.

"MARINA! you guys found her! And she didn't jump thank you so much!" I heard finnick yell running into the room, "Where did you find her?"

"Umm... dangling from the roof" katniss said

"WHAT?!" he yelled

"Should I tell or you?" Johanna asked. and I pointed to her. she told everything she knew. that I was on the roof and didn't want to leave and slipping off the roof and then my slipping from her hands but got saved by katniss.

"Marina! I'm so sorry" finnick said. I nodded. all my hatred to them slowly faded away when I was dangling from the roof but who's wouldnt?

"You guys can go. thank you again" finnick said and they all nodded and left.

"Finnick. I'm sorry" I said

"It's ok. now let's go to bed" he said bringing me to my bed. he later my down and was about to leave but I stopped him.

"Please don't leave" I said moving over. he sighed shutting the open window and taking off his shirt.

"Please don't ever do that again." he said slipping into the comfy white bed with me.

"I promise" I said

"Good. Now go to sleep... night" he said kissing me on the forehead and pulling me into his white t-shirt covered chest

"Night" I said and fell asleep right away listening to his heart beat.
