this is super long. be blessedt.

Chessie and Robby had been studying while Chessie and Luke had been texting. Robby always got on her for procrastinating on her phone, which is why she kept making it seem like she was just checking the answers she got for her physics lab report. she noticed the side eye he was giving her around the seventh time she did it, so she put her phone to the side for a good ten minutes to cover her track.

once the text she definitely had to respond to came in, she said to her best friend, "I'm gonna go get some more water. want anything?" not waiting a second after he shook his head, she bounded down the steps to the kitchen, then tiptoed to the basement where she already began dialing Indie.

"he fucking asked me out," she both quietly shouted into the phone. "I'm emo, I'm shook, I'm -"

"WHAT'D HE SAY?!" Indie immediately screamed without caring that her siblings and parents were sleeping.

once Chessie recited the texts to her best friend - mostly because she was too lazy to take and send the screenshots - she heard Indie make an incoherent noise that sounded like a combination of crying, wheezing, and squealing. she immediately thought to herself, if that ain't me.

"what did you say?"

"nothing yet because I needed your expertise and sarcasm to help me out before I hit send. plus, I wasn't sure if I should reject him to injure his ego or not."

"as good as that would be," Indie said into her phone much lower now, probably because she got yelled at, "I feel like you guys need some social interaction by now."

"I don't know if I'm ready for that yet," she responded uncertainly. by that she meant, her body wasn't ready for that. she hadn't lost a noticeable amount of weight yet, which she figured she would have done by the time that she was inevitably meet Luke. she wasn't ready for him to take one look at her and leave just yet. she wasn't confident enough to go about the whole thing without a reaction.

"don't worry. I can work wonders with how you look, how you act, and even how you smell. he'll be the one not ready for you."

Chessie wasn't sure if it was the fact that Indie always reassured her of her biggest worries or that she had to get back to Robby, she let it go and told her that she'd text her some time tomorrow. she went up the stairs, grabbed a water, and went back to her room. Robby's glasses had fallen down to the bridge of his nose and he gave her a confused, puppy look to ask where she had been. she had a compulsive instinct to fix his glasses and leave a kiss on his nose, especially since Indie had basically hinted that he liked her more than she thought he did.

"sorry, I had to take a shit," she explained. "I wouldn't use the bathroom close to the door down there, unless you want a fresh taste of the guacamole bomb I left."

Friday went by much more rapid than she would've liked it to. she FaceTimed Robby while she did her homework because she couldn't do any of it on Saturday, like she preferred to. there were times that she focused and got her job done, but then there were others when she just happened to remember what would go down within a little over twenty four hours and she felt her the blood in her body pulse at a much quicker rate.

"so I was thinking," Robby started while Chessie looked down at the layout she made for her English essay, "we could go check out that new smoothie place in London tomorrow. and we could hit up a new movie or something."
