(This'll be short. Dont take ur chances. I was a little lazy and just wanted this scene to stay like this. Thanks and sorry!)
***
I dashed out of the taxi clutching my backpack so it wouldn't fall into the muddy and wet grounds of the streets in the busy city. I was running through the rain pouring out and tapping on the ground.
I heard the sound of speakers blasting and pulled on my hoodie. I was tempted to fly but I would attract to much attention as it is.
I finally made it to the building and I slammed the door shut and leaned against it and breathed.
I looked in front of me, Hearthians and humans were everywhere preparing for the speech in the town hall behind the curtains were the audience who would finally get to publicly meet me and one happy smile was already there to greet me.
"You made it!!!!" She said and then she grimaced. "You're wet!!!"
"Sorry. The rain... I'm drenched." I said.
She snapped her fingers and shook her head and instantly I was dry.
"Thanks." I rubbed my hair a little and soaked in a little in its warmth. It was great to hang around with Pep and Sam when I felt like it, but today was the day we announced publicly that the Hearthians are once again living among us.
I took out my phone. I checked the time. It was only 9:36. I made it on time or at least a time good enough. I was supposed to be here at 10:20 but I was in such a rush I didn't mind it much.
"Where's Sam?" I asked her putting my phone in my backpack.
"It's always Sam... Since you two started dating again you've been looking for each other all the time..." Pepper grumbled.
"There's no more potion. I just like being with him." I said.
I stretched my wings out and felt something brush against them. It was Scipes.
"How are you with your wings???!!! Never know if that thing that escaped from your amulet will return." Scipes said.
I rolled my eyes at her. She works with the military now and takes part in karate, taekwondo, and fencing classes like me. She's a faster learner however. She's great. She teaches me all sorts of stuff when I'm bored.
"I'll be fine. Geez." I said.
"Well, well, well someones here to Spice up mah life." Sam said putting his arm around me and the other one on my hip.
"I hate you." I slapped his hands away.
"Chill! I'm joking!" He said.
"Fires don't chill. They melt the chill ones." I said.
He rolled his eyes and smiled. "Still punning eh? I still can't believe you're officially the guardian of purity for both Hearthians and Humans."
"It's a lot of responsibility... I've even got school in a few weeks." I grumbled fingering my new locket.
"Heat, you're supposed to go out in a little while and get the speech ready." Pepper said pushing me a little. "You do memorize the speech don't you?"
"Shay, shay, I'll be fine." I said. "How hard could it be?..."
There was no response. I got used to a voice asking me questions, telling me answers, and criticizing me. It was as if it was a part of me no matter how much I hated it, I actually missed it...
"And here, we have a half-human and half-hearthian right here." I heard a voice say.
I stepped out from behind the curtain and went up to the podium.
"Uhm... Hey! I am the only half-hearthian since these people have been locked away in another world." I explained calmly.
I could hear Pepper smack her face with her palm. This wasn't the speech that was prepared for me. This was honesty.
"I saved their race, brought them out of extinction and now I've got these..." I said stretching out my wings a little.
There were gasps and whispers. No one probably understood.
"I've spent months in the Hearth-"
"Objection!" Someone said.
Everyone murmered and looked at me.
"If you've been missing for less than a month, then cannot say you have spent months!!! You are probably exaggerating." The voice said.
"The Hearth was a place of a different time kinda thing..." I murmered.
Everyone seemed confused.
"Time zones are different in the Hearth. Its got some magical barrier." I shrugged.
"Are you taking this seriously?" Pepper whisper shouted from the back of the stage.
"Yes!" I whisper shouted. "Anyway, I'll try to answer your questions." I said.
"How did you end up as a half-hearthian?" Someone asked.
"Well... It's an insanely long story and well... While the rain outside might keep us in here for aw while... I'd rather not explain." I said laughing nervously. "I just somehow did... Some weird destiny or something..."
"We're you born half-hearthian?"
"Nope. I only achieved my powers when I entered their world. It triggered something... And now that the barrier for it or... The caves of Exomier collapsed... The power has probably released."
Suddenly the questions came from everywhere. Shouting and all that. Someone came on to the stage and told me I did my best.
"I'm sorry everyone, that's all the time we have left." She said.
And then, there were a few reporters backstage.
One of them shoved a microphone in my face and asked me a question.
"What is your full name and how would you describe yourself?"
"Me?... Well... I'm Heather Field. The only half-human and half-hearthian existing, the tomboy sixteen-year old who goes to Ashville High, the Hearthian's savior, and the one who will probably fail in her math classes."
