The first week of school was over. Today was Friday which meant that it was the carnival. Candy, Early, and Abby agreed to swing by around six and right now it was ten minutes before six. The carnival started at seven. I was in my Girl Cave when I heard a knock on my bedroom door. I opened it and saw Candy, Early, and Abby. "Hey guys" I said.

"I love your room" said Abby as she plopped herself down on my hot pink couch. She started channel surfing on my TV "Oooh look, America's Next Top Model is on. I love Tyra Banks so much" I smiled and turned to Early and Candy. "Let's do your makeover now" she said. Instantly I was pushed on my vanity chair looking in the mirror. They had applied little makeup because they thought I didn't need a lot. These girls were so sweet. They had curled my hair and put red lipstick on. They made me put on a black t-shirt with faded jeans and red Vans. I looked great.

"Thanks guys" I said. They beamed at me. Carter was wrong, these girls were really nice and there was nothing wrong with them. I grabbed my glasses from my nightstand and slipped them over my eyes.

"We're not done" said Candy "You have really pretty blue eyes but those glasses are just hiding it" She reached for my glasses and pulled them off. Everything turned blurry "Hey I need those to see" I said whining. She reached for her bag and pulled out a little box that said 'Conlacz'I looked closer and it 'Contacts'. She gave me the box "Here, these contacts will make your blue eyes sparkle and stand out" I walked to my bedroom and slipped the contacts on. Everything seemed clear again. I looked in the mirror and my blue eyes were sparkling and shining. I smiled, I looked amazing. I turned to Candy "Thanks" I handed her the contacts but she just handed them back "You can keep them. I get like 5 boxes mailed to me almost every week anyway" We turned to the door and left.

"Hey let's head to the photobooth" insisted Early. The carnival was pretty cool. There were rides, games, and food. The whole school was here too. Early dragged us across the carnival to a little photobooth. The sign read: Photobooth 2-4 people allowed. We got inside and I picked up a cardboard box filled with accesories. I got a mustache on a stick and put it under my nose. Abby got a bow tie, Candy got a crazy purple top hat, and Early got a clown nose We each smiled at the camera. When we got out, I noticed a familiar face. It was Carter with his group of friends. He suddenly grabbed my hand dragged me behind the photobooth. "What have I told you about those girls" I glared at him "You're not the f*cking boss of me so leave me alone before I get one of my brothers."

Carter sighed and shook his head "Don't say I didn't warn you" I pulled away from him and caught up to my friends who were at the cotton candy stand "What was that all about" asked Abby as I sat down I shook my head "Nothing to worry about. It's only Carter being annoying" Early looked at me concerned "Every time he's around, it seems that you act strange like there's something your hiding from us. Are you two like dating." Ew, I'll date Carter when pigs fly. The girls must've seen that I was disgusted because they laughed. I glanced back at the photobooth and saw that nobody was there. Hmm, weird. The whole night seemed pretty fun. We ate food, rode rides, and played games until finally I had to use the bathroom. The girls' bathroom was okay. It was a small building with two stalls inside. When I was done, I waslked out the bathroom and heard a familiar voice "Yeah Dad, I'll be safe. Don't worry Ruby will be okay"

It was Carter standing behind the girls' bathroom. He slipped his phone in his pocket and looked at my direction. I realized that I was standing behind a tree. He chuckles "No need to hide Mackenzie" I leave my little hiding spot and rolled my eyes at him "I- I wasn't hiding, I was only um... looking for something" He gives me another look. Dare I shall say, he actually looked pretty good. He wore a black t-shirt with a white skull on it. Pretty sick huh. He wore his jeans and his signature black combat boots. He had a dark green beanie covering his head and matching green jacket over him. He rolls his eyes and smirks "Yeah right, and I'm secretly Beyonce." I kind of smile at his sarcastic remark.

"Was that your dad calling" I asked him. His smirk fades and he looks down "Yeah, he was wondering if Ruby and I are okay." Honestly, I wouldn't mind if something happened to Ruby. "Well, it seems that your Dad cares about you a lot" It must've felt good to have a dad. He looks back at me "He does. Every since my Mom died, he's been kind of overprotective over us" He steps closer to me which makes me feel quite uncomfortable "I'm sorry. I know hot it feels to lose someone you love. I lost my dad when I was nine" He takes another step closer to me "Sorry about that. It seems that we have a lot in common. I mean, one of our parents died and all our siblings are a different gender than us. Kind of cool how similar we are" He was now an inch away from me "Y- Yeah that's-" before I could say anything else, he lifted my chin with his finger and pressed his lips against mine. A jolt of electricity hit me. I don't know how long we kissed but it felt as if time had stopped. Eventually we pull away from each other. I looked at Carter surprised at what just happened "Did you feel that too" he asked me. I shook my head "No, I didn't feel anything" I lied. He gave me a smile showing his cute dimples. I looked away and he smirked at me "You love me" he said teasingly. This guy is so weird. A second ago, he was talking about how much our kiss meant to him and now he is teasing me? Weird right.

I ignored him. I wanted to go home so I did. I literally left the carnival without telling anyone and walked straight home. This carnival was.... interesting.
