Chapter 6: First Day Part 1

Mack

It's been a whole day since the wedding. I had apologized to Axton for the way I acted and he forgave me. Right now, I'm in my Girl Cave watching Batman. What? I really like him. My door swings open and it's Felix. "Ever heard of knocking?" I said annoyed. He looks at me worried "We kind of have a problem." He said taking a glance out my window. I sat up from my couch "What" I say.

"The Harrisons are coming over" he said quickly. I stared at him in shock. "No way are they coming over. They are so annoying except Ava of course. I can't believe she's related to tat b*tch of a sister and b*stard of a brother."

Felix just looked at me "Well, they're coming over so you need to get ready. I went to my closet and pulled out an oversized black and white sweater with brown boots. My straight hair is neatly tucked behind my ear. I walk pass the pool into the backdoor that led to the kitchen. Everyone was on sitting in the dining toom. I noticed Ruby eyed me a bit and Carter gave me a smirk. Since there was no seats left, I had no choice but to sit between Carter and Ethan with Ruby across from me. Worst seat, right? The room was pretty silent until Mom said "How about we start dinner guys." she got up and walked to get the food. Carter leaned towards me so close I could feel his warm breath "You look good, princess." I glared at him and he gave me another smirk.  "Don't call me princess" I snapped.

He put a hand on his chest "I feel hurt that you say that. I thought it was every girl's dream to be called princess by the Carter Harrison." I laughed sarcastically "Then you don't really know us girls' dreams." I said half laughing half talking. He looked at me surprised "I finally got the angry princess to laugh. My life's work has been accomplished" I roll my eyes at the sight of his obnoxious smirk. Suddenly I hear my name called. I shift my body to find out it was Ruby.

"Hi Ruby" I say with a little attitude. Ruby sighs "I'm sorry I being kind of a b*tch to you on the phone the other day. So..... are we cool?" I look at Carter who gives me a go-for-it kind of nod and I turn back to Ruby "Sure" I say "We're cool" She gives me a big wide smile.

"It's good to have friends, Mack" Carter says to me "At Whittletake, you're gonna need them" I roll my eyes. I don't need friends at Whittletake when I have four other brothers to take care of me. Daniel, Ethan, Felix, and Nicholas. Speaking of Ethan, he was wearing the usual jock like clothes. He wore a black and white football jersey with the number 9 on the back which had always been his lucky number. He had faded jeans and some basketball sneakers. Me and Ethan kind of looked alike. We both had glasses to cover our beautiful blue eyes. It was only the eyes that we had in common.

Mom passes out plates of mash potatoes and has a gravy bowl in the middle of the table. The gravy bowl was the one Grandpa had given Mom before we set out to New York. My grandfather moved into our old place in London right now with Grandma and Uncle Sean. I take a bite out of my mashed potatoes and I loved it. It was so soft and creamy. Before I knew it, my plate was wiped clean.

"Damn... the princess was very hungry." Carter said I looked at him and smiled sarcastically "Shut up"

He looked at and gave me his signature smirk "Are you excited for the first day of school tomorrow. We even have a carnival on Friday night. Are you coming?" A carnival did seem like fun. Maybe I could go....

"I don't know" I say. Carter chuckles "Do you do anything for fun? I mean, the back to school carnival is the best. There's so many games and the food- Don't get me started on the food. It's amazing." I give him a look "I do fun things. It's just that.... never mind" I quickly add. Carnivals were fun back at New York and London, but now that I'm in California it all seems different for me. Carter looked at me "Tell me..." I opened my mouth to speak but then a glob of gravy gets dumped on my shoe. I turn to see Zack, Zayn, and Ava giving me a sly smile holding toy trucks filled with gravy. "Look Mack. We have gravy trucks" said Zack. I smile and ruffle their heads. Carter was chuckling and Ruby looked shocked "Ava! What did I say about ruining people's clothes." she said angrily. "It's okay, Ruby. I needed new boots anyways." I lied, these were my favorite boots.

Ruby stood up "I'll go get you some new shoes" I followed her out the house and into my room. "I'm so sorry about Ava. She does this kind of stuff at home to." She said as she walked into my closet and searched for new shoes.

"It's ok. Zack and Zayn do the same thing with me as well." I said as I took the pair of Converse she gave me. "So... are you going to the back to school carnival" Why did people keep asking me. I would rather spend my night sitting on the couch and watching a movie marathon with a bowl of popcorn in my hand. "I don't know" I said simply. She beamed a smile at me "It's really fun and besides you need some friends besides your brothers. They're not the only ones that can protect you"

I took of my boots and slipped my Converse on "I can protect myself." I said.

The next morning, I put on my school uniform. Which is a white button down shirt with a black sweater over it that had the letters WA engraved in it. I wore a plaid balck and white skirt that reached just below my kneecaps. I walk into the living room to see Daniel, Ethan, Felix, Nicholas, Tony, and Sebastian wearing a white polo shirt with WA on it. The white shirt was tucked into a brown khaki pants. They were wearing bucks and black socks. "What's up Mack" said Daniel crossing his arms and leaning against a wall "You actually look civilized for once" he said giving me a smirk. I smile sarcastically at him. "Ha ha ha, thanks" I say "When was the last time you tucked in your shirt."

Daniel continued to smile "It was during..."His smile faded and I knew what he was going to say. It was during Dad's funeral when he wore it. Daniel stopped smirking and looked down. Ethan must've noticed the awkward situation and said "How about we eat cereal and start school guys". Everyone mumbles a yes and eats cereal. After breakfast, Carson agrees to drive us to school after numerous amounts of asking and a lot of swearing.

I was squished in the back seat between Felix, Ethan, and Nicholas while Daniel sat in front.  They younger kids were drove by Mom"Well, I guess you guys better have a fun day at school" Carson said. I scoff and roll my eyes "Since when is that gonna happen" He smiled at me through the rearview window. I gave him a grin back. "Well this is it" he said as he pulled up in front of a big building. I looked around and they were like five others. This school was big. We got out of the car and said our goodbyes to Carson. We then walked to the building that had a gold plaque and it said Administration.

Felix smiled "This must be Administration" he said. I roll my eyes and say "No sh*t." Instead of saying something back, he wraps his arm around me and pulls me closer to him. I just lay my head on him and we walk into the building together. Facing our first day of school.
