CHAPTER 2

Oh my god.

I should've known Ashton is her son. That little bastard is seriously everywhere I go and it doesn't help that he's cute. The worse part is that he has this messy bed head from barely waking up and his Marvel tank top shows off more of his muscular arms than I can handle. I have to force my eyes away from him and look at other decorations in the room, but his voice is still so distracting.

He pulls away from the hug with my mother and mischievously smirks at me. No one except us knows his smile was implied about the flirting on the plane. Ugh, why did I do that? He's so annoying. My mother is expecting me to be polite and hug him like this is the first time I've seen him, but when I hug him with the least amount of appreciation, I can feel that stupid smirk is still plastered on his face. I would gladly rip it off for him and tell him to quit his act. The hug is literally a millisecond long as I tear away as quickly as I can; I feel his hands slowly disconnect from my back and there's a burning touch at the spot he touched. Why do I feel like this?

"This is Ashton, my son." Anne introduces us to him. "He's in this band called 5 Seconds of Summer, or 5SOS."

Oh my god, that's such a cheesy name. Who the hell makes up "5 Seconds of Summer"? I can feel the pride she expresses when she speaks about him, and I'm glad she feels that way so I don't snicker at the choice of his band name. She must be a very proud mother.

"Aw! Anne, your son is very charming. Nice to meet you." My mother chimes. Christ, could she make this any more awkward? I can already tell Ashton is planning my murder so she has to bring up the fact that he has good looks too.

"Lauren, Harry! Come down here!" Anne Marie yells. The faint sound of footsteps from above gets louder as two younger kids come down and are surprised to see us. Just like how I was surprised to see Ashton....

"Kids, this is Aunt Katharine, my high school mate. She just moved back to Richmond." Anne Marie tells them. The girl Lauren, who looks a little younger than Matthew, waves shyly. She looks a bit like Ashton but girlier and shorter. Ha, like Ashton isn't girly enough. The boy Harry, resembles his mom with the blue eyes and blonde wavy hair. He's so small with cute dimples popping out from his adorable grin, two teeth are missing from the bottom. They go back upstairs as if just to present themselves like prizes while the two mothers continue with their chat.

I feel so out of place here and I wish I could just go back to America and watch my TV while sitting in my bed.

"Mom, your pasta smells amazing," Ashton speaks charmingly. He runs into the kitchen and I'm glad that I don't have to see him while he makes his remarks.

"Thanks Ash. Oh Kat it would be lovely if you stayed for dinner tonight since you just came back. Just like the old times?" My mother didn't know how to respond, causing her to look at me in confusion. I gave her the "I don't want to be here but I'm trying to hide it" look, and she mistook it for wanting to accept the offer, making Anne Marie feel more elated. I really don't want to be here more than necessary.

"We'll go home first and unpack our stuff. Y'know, get settled in and then we'll come back with Matthew and Joey alright?" My mother confirmed the dinner date while I stood and waited for her to say goodbye.

"Great! I can't wait to meet your son. We can finally catch up." Anne Marie hugs my mother once again and then kisses me on the cheek. She's so sweet.

My mother expects me to say goodbye to Ashton so I walk to the kitchen and find him stirring the pasta. He looks at me with surprise and eyes me head to toe even though he knows I can see him. He is so disgusting.
