"Leave him alone!" I screamed. They turned to face me. One of them stood in my face.
"What're you gonna do? Cut us like you do yourself?" He laughed. "Face it. You're nothing but a weak emo freak."
I punched him with full force without thinking. He looked back up, his nose pouring blood. He looked at me as if he was about to kill me. He probably was.
I step backwards, backing into the lockers. "Meet me after school if you think you're so tough. This isn't over. Believe me." With that he walked off, along with the disappointed crowd.
I walked over and kneeled down next to him. He didn't move. At first I though he might be dead, but he looked up at me a few minutes later. His expression was blank.
Wonder if he's okay?
"I'm fine. Really. Don't worry about me," he says as if he read my mind.
He stands up and brushed himself off as if nothing happened. His black hoodie was covered in shoe prints.
"Are you sure?"
"Mhm."
"Okay... I'm Kat." I held my hand towards him.
"Gerard," he says quietly, looking at my hand.
I put it back to my side uncomfortably. Okay?
He smiles at me. It was obvious it wasn't real. "We'd better get to class." He turned to walk away.
"We're going to the same class. Not like you can just walk away from me," I laughed.
"Wasn't tryin to sugar."
"Seemed like it," I mumbled.
We walked into the classroom and he sat with the same person he always sits with and I sit alone. He motioned to me and then to the empty set next to them. I picked up my books and moved to them.
"Hey Kat, this is Frank. Frank, Kat."
"Ohh! Like a kitty cat?" Frank said excitedly. "Cause I'm gonna call you kitten!" he yelled then winked.
"Please don't."
Frank laughed and the teacher shushed us. Not like we're learning shit right now.
A paper wad came flying across the room, hitting Gerard in the side of the head. I looked over to see who threw it. I noticed a boy and his friend laughing and watching us.
Gerard picked up the paper and threw it back at them. They instantly threw it back and motioned him to open it.
Gerard uncrumbled the paper before reading it, slamming it down on the desk, and walking out of the classroom. The teacher stared at the door and started to walk out after him.
I picked up the note. "Go kill yourself just like your sister. Nobody cares about you, you suicidal freak. Do us all a favor and die."
Damn...
I stood up and ran out the door with the note in my hand. The teacher was walking around the hallways looking for him when she noticed me. "Get back in the classroom!"
"I need to talk to him alone."
"What happened?"
"Doesn't matter."
"Get back in the room. I'm sure he'll be back."
I ran past her, knowing she wouldn't be able to run in her heels. "Gerard?" I called through the empty hallways.
No answer.
"Gerard!"
I heard him from the boys bathroom. I took a step towards the bathroom. "Gee?" "Please leave." "Come out." "Leave!"
I knew I shouldn't. But I had heard the pain in his voice. I knew he was crying or was about to.
I slowly stepped into the bathroom, making sure there was no one else in there. There was one stall with the door closed. I could see someone sitting on the floor.
"Gee... Come out."
"Kat, please go away damnit."
I could see his hair hanging down just a tiny bit, meaning he had his head in his knees. The door was locked so I crawled under the door. I know, disgusting, but I did. Once I made my way under the door, I sat up and looked at him.
He looked at me. Tears in his beautiful hazel eyes. I felt mine fill with tears too when I realized what he was doing.
He dropped the blade from his left hand and knocked over a bottle full of pills.
I reach my hand out towards him. He looked away from me.
"Please talk to me." I took the blade and the bottle from him.
"Two weeks ago, my sister, Macy, committed suicide," he stared at the floor, "after that, I got really hooked into drugs and alcohol. It was the only thing that helped me...."
How did I not know about a student committing suicide?
He continued, "only person to ever give a damn about me," he snatched the bottle out of my hand and took the top off.
"What are you doing?"
He turned the bottle up to his mouth. Swallowing I don't know how many pills. He smiled at me.
"Now, I just wait for em to kick in."
I froze, not knowing what to do next. His eye started twitching and he started coughing.
I grabbed his arm and pulled him from the bathroom stall, which was very difficult considering my strength.
"W-Why are you acting like you care anyway?"
"Because I do! Now what am I supposed to do?!"
"Let me die!"
"No!"
Crimson blood spilled out the side of his mouth. I grabbed my phone and called 911. Not like the school would care. While those football players were beating the shit out of him, you don't know how many teachers walked by and seen it and didn't say a damn thing.
I explained everything to the operator. Gerard was lying on the floor barely conscious.
"Stay awake!"
I finally heard people running into the bathrooms. The room was flooded with people.
(This story probably sucks. XD. Oh well. It'll get better. Hopefully XD.)
