Why now? (Wendip Love Story)

Chapter three: "Movie night."

Wendy's (POV)

That night I was getting ready for movie night with Dipper, and my nerves were on fire. I didn't know how this was going to play out, but I just prayed that it won't be a disaster.
I picked out the movie from my shelf, and popped the popcorn. I put the bowl of popcorn in my room, just as there was a knock at the door.

"Coming!" I called down the hallway. I left my room, and went to the door. I opened the door for Dipper, and he smiled. I blushed slightly, and smiled back. I let him in, and lead him to my room for the movie. When he got in my room, he took a look around and turned to me.

"Did you redecorate?" He asked me.

"Yeah, I thought it was time to." I said to him.

He smiled at me and spoke up again.

"Well, I like it. I think you did a nice job." He smiled. I blushed slightly, and fake coughed.

"Well then, why don't I start the movie?" I asked him.

"Yeah sure." He sat at the edge of my bed, and I put on the movie. Once it started, I turned to sit down and Dipper was patting a seat next to him.

"Come on." He patted the seat again. I blushed again and sat by him. I put the popcorn bowl between us, and I grabbed a handful. About half way in the movie, I went to grab more popcorn but so was Dipper. Our hands touched. I blushed and turned away, so did he. I spoke up again, still blushing.

"Dipper, I..."

"Wendy, I..."

We cut each other off.

My blush only deepen, and I spoke up again.

"Sorry." I said shyly.

"Same." He said back, in the same tone.

There was a moment of silence, before I spoke up again.

"Um, what were you going to say?" I asked him nervously.

"Uh, I was just going to say that, I missed having movie night with you." He blushed. I smiled at him, and he smiled back still blushing. I turned my attention back to the TV, but not for very long. I kept stealing glances at Dipper. And for what I could tell, he was doing the same. At least until our eyes met doing one of our glances. I blushed again, and so did he. I wanted to turn away but I couldn't. And Dipper couldn't either. I saw so much in his chest nut eyes. I saw leadership, bravery, adventure, love... I shook my head slightly, and turned away from him. But he was still staring at me. My blush only deepen the longer he stared. I wondered to myself if he was okay.

Dipper's (POV)

When I was looking into Wendy's emerald green eyes, I saw a twinkle in her eyes. Like they were begging me to get lost into them. I couldn't look away from her. But she could. She turned away from me, but I kept staring. Even without looking into her eyes, I can still get lost with her. I had an inch to turn her towards me and kiss her, but I held back. I didn't want to upset her. She turned back to me still blushing, I thought she was beautiful when she blushed. I gave her a small smile and she returned it. I finally was able to look away, and turn away from her. My cheeks felt like they were sun burned. I wonder how long I've been staring at her? I blushed again, and spoke up.

"So..."

"So...?"

"So... I'm really glad to see you again Wendy. And sorry about what just happened." I said shyly.

"It's cool man, I mean I was staring too." She blushed.

"I don't know what came over me, I just couldn't look away." I turned away from her.

"Yeah, I know what you mean." Her blush deepen. There was a moment of silence, and I moved the popcorn bowl, before I did something stupid.  I grabbed her hand. She turned to me shocked. I was about to let go, when she squeezed my hand. I blushed again. No one said much around this time. We just sat there holding hands. I rubbed the back of my neck, and she rubbed her arm with her free hand. I just sat there, holding her hand, trying to think of something to say. I turned to her, I was about to speak up, but I decided not to. I opened my mouth just to close it again for the second time.

I didn't know what to do. I gave her hand a tender squeeze, and finally spoke up.

"Your hand is really soft, Wendy." I said blushing. She turned to me still blushing and smiled a little bit. I returned the smile, and we sat in silence again. What now? Continue to sit there like an idiot? Tell her that I still like her? Ask her on a date? Kiss her? What?! My thoughts were cut short when I felt something on my cheek. I turned to see she kissed my cheek. She turned away from me, and spoke up.

"If you tell Mabel about that, I will kill you." She said half heatedly. A smirk went across my face and I spoke up again.

"I won't tell her, if you don't tell her about this." I smirked.

"About what?" She raised her eye brow.

I leaned over to her, and kissed her cheek. She blushed and spoke up again.

"I won't say anything to Mabel." She smirked and zipped her lips. I did the same and squeezed her hand again. She squeezed my hand too, and I spoke up again.

"I'm glad we got to do this again, Wendy." I said blushing.

"Yeah, me too." She said in a nervous, shaky voice. I squeezed her hand one more time before I let it go. I missed the feeling of her hand there, but I gotta let go sometime. I then looked at my watch and saw it was getting late. I coughed and spoke up again.

"Well, it's getting late, I should head back before Mabel wonders where I am." I said to her. She nodded and got up off the bed, and hugged me. I blushed deeply, and hugged her back. I really liked having her in my arms, but I knew I had to let go of her. I stopped hugging her, and spoke up.

"I'll see you tomorrow morning, Wendy. And I had fun today." I said smiling.

"Yeah, I did too." She smiled back. With that, I left her room and left the house to go home.

Wendy's (POV)

I can't believe all of that just happened! Ugh, I'm an idiot! I stared at him, I held his hand, I kissed his cheek, and I hugged him! And why? Because I panicked! What was I supposed to do? Sit there like a moron holding his hand? Ugh, I need to sleep this off. Hopefully by morning, it will be better. So much for it not being a disaster.
