Mackenzie's POV:

Brynn and I run into her house and straight to her bed room. Brynn slams the door behind her as I jump onto her bed.

"We need to plan this out first." Brynn says, sitting in her beanbag chair.

"Really? I thought we were just going to drive off to brazil before getting food and clothes. Such a pitty." I remark.

"Shut up." she laughs, playfully hitting me on the shoulder , "First things first, where are we going to go?"

"I was hoping we could just drive. Drive without a destination. Turn on random roads and see where the world takes us." Brynn suggests.

"We could end up in the middle of the desert." I laugh , "I had a better idea in mind."

I rummage through my bag and pull out a map. On the map is bullet points of every major city and landmark in America.

I place my finger on our current location and trace it on the line connecting each destination, all the the way till we reach back to our location.

"That's the route we're taking." I say.

"You want to travel the whole country?" Brynn laughs.

"Why not?" I laugh.

"Well, we're only 15, and just got our permits 2 months ago." She says.

"You only live once, Brynn." I say. She gives me an unsure look , "Are you in, or are you out?"

The blonde lets out a loud sigh before giving me her final answer.

"Fine." she replies.

"So it's settled." I say , "You will go to the store and get all of or necessities good for one week on the road, and I will pack your things here." I say.

"What about your things?" she asks.

"We will handle that on our way out." I reply. Brynn walks out of the room and grab Ashlee's backup credit card, which was hidden in the old coffee can next to the microwave.

Brynn grabs her car keys off of the key rack and begins her treck to the grocery store.

Brynn's POV
I load the groceries and such into the trunk of the car and start the ignition. While I wait for the cad to warm up, I go on Cliqstr. I was still logged into Mackenzie's account from when she checked her notifications the other day.

Curious of what people were saying, I checked her feed. It was noting but hate comments. Nobody had anything nice to say about her, which honestly, shattered my heart into a billion tiny pieces, which were unable to be put back together.

The majority of the comments were from random people, people from school, who have never personally met Mackenzie. They were just followers, followers of Chloe.

They were so miserable and unsatisfied with their lives, to the point where they were breaking down an innocent girl, just to get the slightest crack of recognition from Chloe.

In distress, I throw my phone against the door on the passenger side. When I grab it, the screen is shattered.

"Shit." I mumble, rubbing my face. I open the messenger app and text Mackenzie.

"I got the groceries, be there soon."

Expecting an immediate response from Mackenzie, I stare at the screen. She doesn't reply.

I start the gas and pull out of the parking lot.

"You there?" I text once more. She still doesn't reply. I set my now shattered phone down, and begin driving. She must still be packing.

30 minutes later

I take the next turn onto the road to my right. The drive to the grocery store was fairly long, begins we lived in a gated community, basically isolated from the rest of the town.

I look ahead at the traffic in front of me. The line of traffic was at least a mile long.

"Hey, the traffic is insane, I may be another hour at the most."

I stare at my phone for another 5 minutes, begging to get impatient with Mackenzie's lack to reply.

Why isn't she replying? It's been about two and a half, I'd assume she'd be done packing my now.

"Mackenzie, are you okay?" I text. I am beginning to worry about her. I call her 3 times, all with no answer.

15 minutes later

Traffic beings to move alone smoothly and I eventually make my way home within 15 minutes. Once I go to open the door, I remember I locked them behind me. I try the back door, and it was locked also. Mackenzie must've locked it after I left.

I bang on the front door, hoping for Mackenzie to hear me.

No answer.

"Mackenzie!" I shout, pounding on the door. After 10 failed attempts of getting the doors unlocked, I walk up to my bedroom window. Mackenzie must be in there listening to music or something.

I begin to pound on the window, but stop. My hands drop, and everything in my body goes completely numb. I can't even breathe. It felt as my lungs have swelled, and weren't any use to me.
