The Trip and His Test

Chapter 3: Jason

It was late, in fact, in some people's eyes it was probably best not to go because it was so late, but at the moment I didn't care. It was about an hour and a half drive to the family cabin Caileigh had invited us to.

I was surprised to receive the invitation but accepted before Callista even caught word of it. I knew that she would instantly deny, but this would be good. I could easily test the strength of Caileigh and Jace's relationship, as I did a year or so ago. She was naive I suppose. But regardless, still easy to separate them.

I called Callista, telling her to pack a bag for two weeks. I didn't plan on telling her about the location until we hit the dirt road leading to the hidden cabin.

"So..where are we going?", Callista asked, breaking through my thoughts.

"A trip with Jace, Kassie, Landon, and....um", I paused, knowing Callista would flip as soon as I said the last name. Callista looked at me, and if looks could kill, I'd be a corpse.

"Don't you dare say Caileigh. I swear I will kill you", she said, and I didn't doubt her threat of murder.

".......Caileigh", I said, smirking a little. She just laughed frustrated.

"Why bring me out here with her. She was your most 'active' ex and I don't care to see more of her. This two friggin weeks is going to suck. She'll just relentlessly flirt with you", She said.

I smiled. "I know. That's the point. I want to show Jace how stupid he is to think she's a good girlfriend"

"So essentially, mess up the entire relationship", She asked eying me carefully. I just nodded then turned my attention to the road.

It was about 12:30 when we arrived at the cabin. I pulled next to the other vehicle, and got out, grabbing the bags. I walked up the pebble walkway and knocked lightly on the door. I heard mumbles and was greeted by Kassie. I raised my eyebrows. Considering it was Caileigh's cabin shouldn't she have opened the door?

Landon was behind Kassie and stepped forward to give me a quick hug. I hugged him back and looked over to see Caileigh passed out in Jace's lap. I laughed and wrapped my arm around Callista's waist as she entered. She smiled and stepped closer to me.

Jace looked back and waved, then motioned for us to stay quiet. Caileigh mumbled in his arms and he covered her mouth. His eyes widened and he mumbled something under his breath. Kassie turned pink and looked up at me.

"Uh. Ok, Caileigh told me to show you guys the room if she fell asleep which uh. She did haha. So here, follow me.", She said. I looked over to see Jace gently lifting Caileigh in his arms. She automatically wrapped her arms around him and pulled herself closer to him.

I walked up the stairs and as Kassie walked into the room, I saw Jace slightly struggle with the door knob, and she just clung to him tighter. Shit. This'll be hard.
