Chapter 2:
Fawn's POV:
"The keys won't come in for a month."
"A month?" Mark and I asked at the same time. We were now sitting in the office deciding what we were going to do about the whole handcuff situation.
"Yes. We will contact you when they are at the station. You kids might want to go home now."
"Who's home?"
"Oh, I almost forgot. You'll have to figure out which house you're staying at." I threw my hands up.
"Ow!" Oops.
"You expect two teenagers to sleep in the same room together for two weeks?"
"Exactly. I agree with Fawn. I mean I'm a guy and she's a girl, it's a bit weird don't you think?"
"Oops look at the time. Schools over that means that it's time for us to go. That includes you two." With that they left us.
"Well I guess that means we'll have to walk to one of our houses."
"It would be a bit dangerous to drive. Do you want to go to my house? Or we can go to yours. It would probably be better if we go to yours."
"Why?"
"I have a really small bed. I mean I am tiny."
"Yeah, you're my Tiny." I think I just died inside a little bit.
"Pshh. I'm nobodies Tiny. Didn't I tell you to stop calling me that?"
"Yes. But I know you really like it so I won't stop." Yes!
"But it depends on what our parents say." My parents are already going to get mad about the whole handcuff thing and when we tell them that we'll have to choose a house they'll obviously say our house.
"Then my house it is. My parents are a bit protective." I can't let him find out about the thing though. He'll probably think I'm dark and gloomy and he'll never talk to me again. Although that would be mean to just stereotype me for one period in my life.
"What do your parents do?"
"My mother is a writer and my father is an English teacher at a nearby high school."
"So you get your studious genes from your parents." He said it like a statement instead of a question but I told him,"probably," anyway.
"My parents might scare you a bit by the way. Just ignore what they say, it usually doesn't mean anything." I opened the door with my key. "Mom, dad!"
"Fawn what is the meaning of this? I got a call telling me something about you being handcuffed to a boy. I also can't believe that you actually dared to get a 98% on your science test." Oh great. Shouldn't she be different when somebody is in her presence, she usually acts sweet and innocent.
"Mom, I only got one answer wrong. Mark this is my mother, Mom this is Mark Holster."
"You really did get handcuffed to a boy. How are you going to keep up on your studies with him around?"
"I'll still study Mom."
"Next time don't get one answer wrong or you will get a punishment." My eyes widened in fear. Last time she kicked me out of the house in the winter time with only one layer of clothing on. She didn't let me in until I got the answer to the question right.
"Yes mother. We will be going upstairs now."
"Your father is writing so don't bother him. Also you will be staying here until those things come off."
"My parents would probably worry so can we do every other night instead ma'am?"
"I suppose. I understand as a mother what it feels like for a daughter to be gone." There she goes talking about Gaselle again. She's always saying I'm not as good as my perfect sister. I was told by somebody that nobodies perfect but apparently my mom thinks that Gaselle is. Little does she know that Gaselle only left, not because she got into Harvard, but because she wanted to elope. Don't get me wrong I love my sister and she's the sweetest person I know but she was always my mothers favorite. If you aren't Gaselle then you don't matter.
We are now awkwardly sitting on my bed while I'm trying to keep a distance between us.
"Your bed really is tiny."
"Yes, it is."
"This is going to be weird."
"Yes, it is."
"We can just pretend I'm one of your guy family members."
"I've never slept with a guy family member."
"Not even with a cousin or uncle or even your dad?"
"No. I don't have any uncles and all of my cousins are girls. My mom was an only child and my father has a younger sister but her husband left her so she became a nun and before she became one she only had daughters."
"Okay then. Then think of me as Marley! We can talk about boys and all that jazz."
"Marley would never say that."
"Ugh. Fine then, don't pretend I'm anybody."
"Okay."
"You're not going to like what I'm about to say."
"What?"
"I have to pee."
"Oh no."
Right now I have a blind fold over my eyes while I'm awkwardly(Why does he make me have all of these awkward moments?) standing beside him in the bathroom.
"I'm done." He washed his hands and then led me back to my bedroom.
"How are we supposed to change?"
"We can take off our pants but the shirt will be a difficult thing to take off." And right at that moment my dad walked in.
What do you think Fawns secret is? How do you think her dad will react?
