Chapter 6: Covering up the truth

Dan walked in with the old man and Lilith; The room he was brought into was a small one with one window, a couch, and a couple of shelves with books on them.
"Please have a seat" the old man said pointing a hand to the couch.
Dan did as he was told.
"So young man my name is Mr.Osshen and I own this coffee shop"
Dan shook his head "That's nice, but why did you bring in here exactly?"
"Because of what you said earlier, that you weren't a ghoul, but yet I could see the hunger in your eyes when you tried to reach for Lilith's kill" Mr.Osshen muttered
"Kill, what was that human to him a deer" Dan thought to himself
"And your eye, you only have one black and red eye"
Dan shook his head "I don't know what's really happening to me, all I remember is waking up in a hospital, going home, and not being able to eat anything"
"Ghouls can not consume human food, it makes them very sick" Mr.Osshen said
"And I remember...a girl named Jess" Dan mumbled
Lilith got wide eyed "wait Jess was with you?" She questioned
"Yeah we went on a date, she chased me down and died under a falling roof, I was lucky enough to survive" Dan exclaimed
"I think I know what happened, you both got hurt, Jessica dies and some of her organs were put into you via surgery"
Dan put his head in his hands "I can't believe this is happening"
"I can't believe Jess went on a date with you" Lilith laughed
Dan looked up "Does this mean I have to eat human flesh..... Because I don't think I can do that"
Mr.Osshen nodded slowly
"I believe so, since you are a ghoul young man"
"It's Dan"
"Right" Mr.Osshen said through a tired voice. "You know Dan you can all ways work here, I can help you through all this"
Dan nodded "I guess so"
"You might accidentally kill someone with out even realizing" Lilith said crossing her arms
"I wouldn't kill anyone !" Dan yelled standing up
"Your hunger I'm afraid will probably take over your mind, remember it took a lot for you to not grab some of Lilith's kill" Mr.Osshen sighed
Dan sat back down  "What am I going to do about Phil, he hates ghouls, he works for an agency whose primary job is too kill ghouls" Lilith got wide eyed "Phil Lester! He's killed more than 15 ghouls this year alone, how do you know him?"
Dan scratched the back of his neck nervously "He's my best friend"
"Dan, you must be very careful when you're around him, make sure to never let him find out what you are" Mr.Osshen said
Dan nodded still feeling hurt inside
"I'll make you some food everyday so you'll won't go hungry, it will have human flesh in it but you won't be able to tell"
Mr.Osshen looked at Dan "I'll go make you a coffee" he then got up and left
Dan looked at Lilith "Its your eye again" she said
Dan touched the part under his eye and sighed deeply "Is it bad?" He asked
"Well, it looks like a regular ghoul eye" Lilith said
Dan side frowned
Mr.Osshen came back with a out of coffee and an eye patch
"Here you go and here's an eye patch make sure to wear it, or Phil may see your eye"
Dan put on the eye patch and began to sip his coffee, after a while he said his good byes but not before asking an important question.
"How did you know Jess?" He asked Lilith as she turned around and looked at the ground
"She was my best friend!"
