I woke up in the forest all alone, I didn’t remember anything. ‘What happened? Where am I? What’s my name?’ I asked myself.
“It’s okay Rouge, you’re not alone.” A sweet melodic voice whispered. I jumped when I heard the voice, I was scared but at the same time it soothed me, there was like a presence in the voice that told my brain not to be afraid. All the same I spun around prepared to fight for my life if that was what came. I may not be strong but if my life depended on it I could at least run. But to my dismay it was too dark to see anything.
“Who are you and what do you want?” I croaked out. My vocal cords scratched against each other, it sounded as if I hadn’t talked in months. Maybe I hadn’t talked in months, I honestly don’t remember.
“It’s okay little one. I’m not here to hurt you. I’m here to help.” The voice said once again, and I began to grow angry.
“How do I know if you’re here to help me? I can’t even see you.” I stated harshly while glaring into the darkness. Unexpectedly a chuckle came from the person, or thing again I’m not really sure, but the chuckle reminded me of a bell choir chiming their bells to an old hymn. It was beautiful and it made me want to smile. Although I did not.
Slowly I could see a glowing light coming towards me, but the light was blue. A beautiful light blue. In closer inspection I could see the brilliant light outlining a figure. Once it stopped in front of me the blue light dimmed down and I could see a women. Her eyes were the same baby blue color as the light previously surrounding her they were perfectly almond shaped and they seemed to glow with something I could not quite understand. Her hair was white as snow and cascaded gently down her back in a neat braid. She had a garland of wild flowers adorning her head. Her cheekbones were high and regal looking, while her lips were plump and as red as the ripest apple in the world. She had a soft smile on her face, which showed off her perfectly pure white teeth. A long beautiful silver strapless dress tightly but modestly hugged her bust while flowing down into the ground where the dressed turned into a silver-gray mist.
Slowly my eyes raised back to face to see her looking at me with kindness and compassion in her eyes. And in that instant I knew I could trust her. I knew that there was no way she was evil. I don’t know why but it just made sense in my mind that she will never hurt me.
“You see me.” The women started. “Now let me help you trust me.” I stared at her for a moment before nodding my head.
“Okay.” I replied softly. My voice was still coming out rough and it hurt like crazy, especially when I talked, but I wasn’t worried about that right now. All I was worried about was finding out what this women was going to do. She took a tentative step towards me and I hesitated flinching back a bit.
“I understand you’re frightened but you’re just going to have to trust me. Take a leap of faith Rouge.” With that being said the women took some more slow steps and stopped a few feet in front of me with her hands out reached. I stared at her hands for a minute before raising my gaze to her meet hers again. I expected to see irritation, anger, and impatiens in her eyes. But instead I found compassion, understanding, and still that emotion that I could not place. It was a positive emotion, that I could see but what emotion it was still remained a mystery. She smiled and nodded to me. Slowly and carefully I took a step forward, then another and another until I was standing directly in front of her. She lifted her hands slightly, indicating for me to place my hands in hers. I debated internally for a few seconds before slowly reaching up and taking her hands.
“Good. Now close your eyes and don’t let go of my hands.” She told me sternly yet softly at the same time. I nodded my head and closed my eyes. “Relax, let the tension and tiredness drain from your body.” I did so. “Now focus on me and only me. There will be distractions but don’t look at them. Focus on me.” I nodded again and took a deep breath and held it for a minute while I collected all my thoughts and all my questions. Then while exhaling I pushed everything I had gathered out of my head and focused on the warmth that was radiating through me from the touch of this woman. I heard her take a deep breath and exhale it, like me. Almost instantly after I felt as if something was pushing on a wall in my head. I kept my focus on the warmth as the impact became almost painful I was tempted to let go for only a second before I pushed the thought of out of my brain before I could lose focus. This process went on of what left like hours, but in reality was only minutes.
Then a gasp suddenly escaped me as the pressure broke and the wall came tumbling down. I began to remember things, things like my age and the fact that I was a werewolf a pure white werewolf. Thoughts began whizzing through my brain and tried to break my focus. They tried to get in the way of my task but I wouldn’t let them. I refused to fail.
With a great deal of effort I pushed the thoughts away and re-focused on the women, I thought about her face and her hair, I thought about the dress she was wearing and the garland that clung faithfully to her head. And lastly I focused on the warmth that was still coming through her hands and into my body. This continued again for a few minutes but it didn’t seem as long a time before the warmth slowly started to fade. And soon after it was completely gone.
“You can open your eyes now Rouge.” She smiled at me. I slowly opened my eyes to see her smiling at me. “What do you remember now?”
“I remember that I am 15 years old, my name is Rouge now although it wasn’t previously all I know is that the name I had was not fit for me. I know that I am a werewolf. And I know that I am strong for a female. I remember people telling me that, but I don’t remember who it was.” I paused and thought a bit. “I remember a lot about where wolfs. The basics and a few more advanced things.” I paused again. I felt like I was forgetting something but I couldn’t remember right now. I thought and stared off into space. Suddenly it came to me. “I am supposed to find someone by the name of Adela. She lives in neutral territory in a cottage. She is beyond the Moon Light pack and in between the Dark Mountain pack and the Thunderous Sky pack. But she is undetected by anyone. So I must be extremely careful and if I feel anyone is following me then I must lead them away from her.” I looked up to the regal women for conformation, she smiled and nodded. “I have a question.” I blurted out. I hadn’t meant to say it but I was actually glad I did. This question had been nagging at me. She nodded her head for me to continue. “Who are you?”
The lady didn’t seem surprised by the question she only started at me for a while. Seeming to be having an internal debate before answering me. “My name is Alexandrine, who I am is not important right now. But I can say that I am here to protect you, and if you ever need me then just call out for me. Now, it is time for me to go. But be warned, the path ahead of you is a dangerous one. Your life is your path and it will not be easy.” I nodded my head telling her I understood at least part of what she was saying even though most of it didn’t make sense. Slowly the blue light began to form around her again and she began to fade.
“I will be seeing you again soon Rouge. Sooner than you would think.” Alexandrine told me.
“Wait!” I called out suddenly having the urge to ask her something. “Why do I need to go to Adela? What is she going to do?”
“She will help you.” Was the women’s short reply before the light dimmed and she was gone.
