"If Luke doesn't stop talking to me, I might just have to smack him into next week," Rosie thought to herself.
"Shut up, Luke!" Rosie said madly.
"Why should I?" Luke responded, trying to annoy her.
Rosie crossed her arms and gave Luke a dirty look. "Because you're annoying me."
"So what?" he teased.
Rosie yelled, slamming her hands onto her desk,"Luke! I said shut up!" Then she reached over and smacked Luke across the face.
"Rosie!" their teacher, Mrs. Johnson, exclaimed from behind her desk. Rosie slumped in her seat. "Go to the office!"
"But Mrs. Johnson, I'll get suspended if I go down there again. And Luke started it, not me."
After arguing with Mrs. Johnson, Rosie huffed and walked toward the door. She heard Luke start laughing to himself. Rosie shot him a glare as she opened the door and walked out.
Rosie walked into the office and was immediately greeted by the secretary. "What can I help you with, Rosie?" Rosie pointed to Mr. Stewart's door, then walked over and knocked.
"Come in," he replied. She opened the door and walked in. Mr. Stewart rolled his eyes and said, "God, Rosie, what did you do this time?" Mr. Stewart asked. Rosie explained what she had done, and begged him not to suspend her because her parents would punish her to no end.
"I'm not going to suspend you, but this is your last chance."
"Luke always gets on my last nerve. It's always him being annoying all the time that causes me to snap and do things like this."
"Well, try not to do it again. Go back to class." Rosie walked back to class, only to find Luke watching her walk in the room.
She glared at him and said, "You're always getting me in trouble, Luke."
"Yeah, yeah. Didn't you get suspended?" Rosie looked at the floor, not wanting to admit to Luke that she didn't get suspended. She shook her head. "You didn't get suspended? Didn't Mr. Stewart tell you last time that if you got sent down there again that you would?"
"Well yeah, but he gave me a break."
"What'd you do, give him a sob story?" Luke pushed.
"No..." She kept looking at the floor. "I told him that if I get suspended that I would be in trouble for the rest of the year with my parents, and me being in trouble with my parents would not be pretty," Rosie sighed, "anyway I'm going to lunch now." She had seen her friends, Sara, Jess, and Kenna, walking up to her so she decided to join them.
The four girls were the best of friends. Every one of them told each other everything, including who they had crushes on. Sara liked Luke, Jess liked Caleb, Kenna liked Mitchell; except Rosie couldn't bring herself to tell them that she didn't actually have a crush on Ashton like she told them she did. Ashton was like a brother to her, so having a crush on him would be weird. The girls had conversations almost daily about the boys they had crushes on and how "dreamy" they were.
Luke, Ashton, Caleb, and Mitchell were also the best of friends. Their daily conversations were about different bands they liked. They all liked bands such as Green Day, Blink-182, and other bands of that type. Ashton, Caleb, and Mitchell all had crushes on Rosie, but never admitted it to each other.
Ashton suddenly called Rosie over to their lunch table. "Hey Rosie!"
Rosie turned around and replied, "What Ashton?"
Ashton yelled between the two tables, "Come here! We have a question for you!"
Rosie got up from her chair and came to their table.
"Your birthday is July 16th, right?" Caleb asked, and Rosie nodded.
"That's Luke's birthday too," Mitchell said, wiggling his eyebrows, "and I think he likes you. He keeps blushing whenever we say your name and he was watching your table for a solid three minutes."
"How many times do I have to tell you not to talk about me?" Rosie rolled her eyes, "Luke, come here." Luke got up, and the two of them walked to where they wouldn't be heard by either of their friends. Luke was noticeably sweating and shaking. "Are you okay? You're shaking and sweating," Rosie asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine, why?" Luke asked shakily.
"You're obviously nervous. Why, Luke?"
"Well, actually..." Luke stuttered, "I-I like you, Rosie."
Rosie looked at him, shocked. "I thought you hated me?" Luke shrugged. "Can I tell you something?" Luke nodded. "I like you too..."
Luke bit his lip. "I guess we should go back to our tables. They're all probably going to question us anyway, we don't normally talk without arguing," Luke laughed.
Rosie giggled. "True." The two children walked back to their respective tables.
The next day went completely different, and Rosie, Luke, and all of their friends sat at the same table during their lunch hour. The entire hour was spent with Rosie and Luke being teased by their friends due to their conversation the previous day.
"Oh my gosh, guys, just get together already, will ya?" Mitchell groaned, as Luke and Rosie were continuously throwing grapes at each other in a flirtatious way.
"Shut up, Mitchell," Luke glared at him, and threw another grape at Rosie.
Kenna grinned, "Seriously, just date already, please."
"Alright fine, since you people want it to happen so badly," Luke turned to Rosie, "Rosie, will you be my girlfriend?"
"Mhm," Rosie leaned over and kissed his cheek to say that she would be his girlfriend.
