Bang. Bang. Bang.

Gunshot. After gunshot. After gunshot. The people of Gem City were in danger.

"Sapphire Skull we need your help right away!" People were yelling constantly. Sapphire Skull was on his way. "So many new shoes," he thought to himself. "Must. Smell. The shoes." Next thing anybody knew, Sapphire Skull was inside JCPenney and making his way to the shoe section.

"Sapphire Skull, what are you doing?! The city needs you out there!" A cashier yelled.

"I must. Smell. The shoes," Sapphire Skull responded.

"But Mr. Skull! There's no time!" the cashier yelled, her voice shaking. Sapphire Skull had found his way to the shoes, ignoring the cashier, and picked up the nearest pair, a pair of blue Nike sneakers. The smell of fresh fabric and sweaty feet from people trying on the shoes engulfed his nose. Sapphire made it a point to pick up every shoe on the rack and smell it before heading back out onto the street to help fight crime.

As Sapphire Skull was walking out of the store, the automatic sliding door wouldn't open for the lady a few feet in front of him, so he used his one superpower to open it. All he had to do was say "open sesame" in his head, and snap his fingers, and the door would open. The lady trying to get through the door gasped and turned around. "Sapphire Skull! You're my hero!" she yelled, running over and hugging him.

"It's what I'm here for," Sapphire Skull shrugged, exiting the store, before continuing down the street. Sapphire Skull spotted a Forever 21 store nearly half a block ahead of him.

"I must. Smell. The shoes," Skull mumbled. He sped up and headed towards the shoe section of Forever 21, but not without weird looks from every teenage female in the vicinity. Sapphire Skull picked up a pair of leather combat boots and took in the scent.

All of a sudden, a Gem City cop tugged on Sapphire Skull's sleeve, causing him to squirm and scream profanities. "Let's go, Skull," the cop groaned.

"Let go of me," Skull protested.

"Damn it, Skull, come on," the cop drug him along by his thin arms. Sapphire Skull's dark hair fell into his face, but he couldn't push it away. The cop had too strong of a grip.

There had been a group of older men with guns trying to rob stores in the square. Whenever someone got in their way, they would shoot at them. Sapphire Skull, free of the cop's grasp, noticed someone running out of a store, failing to hide what they were stealing. This man raised a handgun and shouted, "Get out of my way!" Sapphire Skull did not move, so the middle-aged man shot a bullet towards Skull.

Skull ducked, the bullet missing him by barely an inch. "Open sesame," he thought, snapping his fingers. The automatic sliding door in front of the man immediately slammed shut, causing him to run into the glass. The man fell backwards, blacking out.

Not more than thirty seconds later, everyone heard the rest of the group of robbers come running out of the other stores screaming. Sapphire Skull thought "open sesame" again. Every automatic door quickly shut and each robber slammed into them.

Screams erupted from the entire city, and the sound of applause filled the air. A crowd formed, surrounding Sapphire Skull, and suddenly he was lifted up and the crowd was carrying him through the streets of Gem City. Hundreds beyond hundreds of people lined up for an autograph and a picture with Sapphire Skull, almost like he was Pewdiepie or something.

Sapphire returned to the comfort of his home, but not without stopping in every shoe store and smelling every shoe in stock, even in the stock rooms. He got kicked out of every store he went into.

Sapphire Skull kicked himself back in his recliner. "Today felt like a day working at McDonald's," he said to nobody in particular before going to sleep for the night.
