What does this mean? Divine Will? Maximum?
"Let us see. What does maximum mean?" The headmistress questioned. She turned to me.
"We don't know what your ability is capable of but answer this. Have you ever experienced something bizarre in your life before going here?"
I skimmed my memories for something. A bizarre event huh? Something that might link to my ability.
"Umm. I dont know if this counts as bizarre but I have this thing. I dont know if it's an ability or something but whenever I try to learn something. I can learn it immediately."
Professor Cook's eyes lit up.
"Okay. I think I know what your ability does. If my theory is correct then you have a very powerful ability at your disposal."
My heartbeat pounded when hearing those words. Looks like ' won't be having abilities like allows me to sparkle or make glitters. Trust me, I saw someone who has that ability. She's only a 1 star. Well at least she still can use it to blind her enemies.
"Mr. Evans, listen well because its very important. For you, who will win. A water elemental or a fire one."
I answered water wihout any hesitations.
"You're right. But let me tell you. What will happen to water when heated? It evaporates. Water would vanished when flames are abundant. What I'm telling you is that it's all about level. Every ability has a level. There is Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Expert and lastly Mastered."
He drank before continuing.
"Advancing a level is actually a form of understanding. The more you understand your ability, the higher your level will be. You're at the Beginner level at first of course, you only got about a percent of understanding at first. Once you get 20 percent of understanding, then youll advance to the Intermediate level. Its not easy though. You'll need hardwork to succeed. 50 percent to advance on the Advanced level. 70 percent for Expert level and 100 percent to be able to master it."
"From what I know, only 3 people mastered there abilities. One of them is human. His now serving the current king as a general. The other 2 are from different races."
"Even me, I'm still stuck in the Intermediate Level. I think I'll never advance anymore. Your headmistress is an Expert though. One of the most powerful Air Elementals in the world."
"Okay back to your ability. I've got this idea that the leveling is not only for abilities but also skill. Cooking, archery etc. This are considered skills. I think that with your Maximum ability. You can skip the other levels and jump directly to the Mastered level."
"No way!" I exclaimed. "Isn't that cheating. It's too unfair for others."
This time it's the headmistress who spoke. "Boy, there is no such thing as unfair. All has advantages and disadvantages. For example, people with neutral affinity are more powerful than those with normal ones. But did you know that there are only a small amount of Neutral Elementals that became Expert Level? It's because, they suffered some setbacks in leveling. It would hinder them and some was not able to improve anymore because of this setbacks. The powerful your ability is, the bigger consequence you'll face."
"For you, what do you think are your advantages and disadvantages."
"Well, I don't have to train to improve but the problem is I can't fight someone with my powers."
"Exactly. You don't have to train to weild a sword but it is not wise to fight an enemy who throws fireballs with a normal sword."
I understood it all. But why wont they explain my other abilities. What is this innate thing.
"Professors? What is an innate?"
"Why do you ask?"
"Well I read it in a book somewhere but they did not explain it."
"Well since theres no harm done if I explain it you so why not? You're aware that there are different races aside from us humans right?"
I nodded.
"Well, innate is actually referring to innate skill. A skill that is original to your own race. Humans don't have innate skills like the others. If not for our numbers, we are inferior to other races."
I see. Does that mean im not human? Nahh. Impossible.
"Are there any cases of humans possessing innate skill?"
"None that I know of."
I guess im just abnormal. Oh well, I wont tell anyone about this that's for sure.
"I fear we have to end our talk. Professor Cook has something to do and I have a meeting with the Heads."
I nodded.
On the way to my room, I kept on thinking about my abilities. Why is it that they are not explain my other abilities.
Is it possible that they can't see it. Is it possible that I'm the only one who can see it? I have to find my brother. I have to learn the council members's abilities too.
