Navigating through these hallways is damn near impossible, seeing as many of these dipshits can't walk straight worth a damn! I look behind me to see if Mary and Sarah are keeping their pass. They're just barely managing to keep their pass with me. Mary has a face that says, "I'm way out of my element right now!" and Sarah just looks both scared and annoyed at the same time. Not sure how she's managing to pull that off, but whatever. As I finally get room to breathe, I see a familiar door. I sigh in relief and rush over to open the door, pushing others out of my way in the process.
"C'mon! Over here you two!"
"H-Huh!?" Mary says in confusion.
I wave my hand in the air to signal them over to my position. They both finally make their way, slowly but surely, over to the door I was holding open. I close the door and let them catch there breathes. Sarah pauses, and looks in all directions, getting familiar with her surroundings.
"It's quiet." She says, shooting me a stern glare.
Mary then looks around after hearing her sisters statement. She looks very surprised that it is dead silent compared to the stamped going on outside.
"Is the Band classroom in this hallway perhaps?" She says, tilting her head in curiosity.
"Nope." I say with a cocky smile.
"Then why are we here!?" Sarah says, with an aggravated, defensive tone.
Ok, she really needs to calm down. I understand that she is going through a difficult time right now, considering they are in a very unfamiliar environment and whatnot. I guess this whole "Earning her trust" thing is gonna take longer than I thought. If she ever gives me a chance. But regardless, I will still treat them with kindness and respect.
"This is a shortcut that takes us from that hallway to the next one over there." I say, pointing towards the end of the long hallway,
"The reason it's so quiet is because this hallway is the Junior class."
I point to the doors in the hallway and show them the students sitting at their desks through the glass on the door.
"The way this school works is that every student per grade moves from one building or class to the next depending on their schedule. Only one grade can move through the hallways at a single time, with occasional exceptions of course. Because we have a large number of students, and a relatively well-sized school, we can't have all student roaming through the hallway and stairs. It would be at least 3 times what you just experienced! Not a good thought, right? So this system was made early on in the year when I first came to this school."
Mary listens and looks directly at me, paying close attention as I'm giving them this lecture. Sarah also slowly calms herself as I continue.
"Also, we do have a nice lunch room, but of course, not everyone can fit inside. We do have tables and other places where people can sit, but it would still be way to crowded. Back then, some students haven't been able to eat lunch because the lines were too long. So the divided the lunch period into three periods instead and extending it to forty minutes instead of thirty."
Mary nods her head and gives a light smile as I finish my lecture.
"That make a lot of sense." Say Mary.
"I'm glad we don't have to experience such events."
"Yeah, me too." I add.
"Especially since this is your first time in America."
