Veil of Violets

I travel through a field of violets
Picking each fragile stem tenderly
Passing each shadow of my regrets
Placing the flowers in a pail, gracefully

Once I gathered quite enough inside the pail
I sat in the grass sticking them in my hair braids
And then, soon looming the violets into my veil
Each stood for the freedom that Christ's sacrifice had paid

And within the veil and immaculate white
A bride would be born to marry her Bridegroom
And by His binding blood they would unite
Rising up to be with Him soon

A veil of violets, the freedom's blessing
A white gown, to be brought into communion
With the brethren an anthem's rise I would sing
By His wounds we all are made one in Him
