Your name was Kyuubi, which meant nine tails in your native language but you usually went by (y/n) for contact with other beings. What many didn't know about you was that you were a kitsune. You could change your appearance at any times but in your real form, you had nine tails and fox ears.
It had been a long time since you'd had any contact with humans but had decided to take a journey to earth. For your trip, you changed your appearance to one of a male man with (h/c) hair and (e/c) eyes.
Upon arriving you were taken in by a group known as the Avengers. They knew what you were but you still refused to show them what you truly looked like. You didn't trust them that much, you didn't really trust anyone.
You decided to become a part of their team once you were cleared. It took a while to get used to but soon, you felt more comfortable around the Avengers.
Temporarily you had been staying at the Avengers Tower but you knew you couldn't stay there forever. The place was always busy and you never got much of a break when you were there. Thor seemed to sense your discomfort and offered you a place on Asgard. At least there, you could have a quiet room to yourself.
The first time you saw Asgard, you were breathless. The city was so beautiful and shone in the sunlight. As the days and weeks passed, you grew to love Asgard and your new friends. Of your time in Asgard, you often ran across a raven haired man. He was almost always alone. For some reason, the picture of him alone stuck in your mind. Halving tried talking to him, you understood why he was alone.
When you asked Thor about the man, he told you that he was Loki, his brother. He also mentioned that Loki was cold to everyone so you shouldn't take it personally. Even so, you were intrigued by him and could relate to his loneliness. You wanted to get to know him and learn his story.
~oOo~
You'd been staying on Asgard for over a month when you saw Loki sitting alone. You usually didn't see him, let alone simply sitting anywhere. He seemed to be lost in thought.
You walked up behind him and cleared your throat. He jumped at the noise then glared at you for interrupting him. You sat beside him despite his look and turned towards him.
"Hey Loki." He turned to look at you and a smile grew as he took a closer look at you. You suddenly felt self-conscious.
"I can see through your tricks, little kitsune." You couldn't do anything but stare at him in shock. No one had been able to see you for you were before. Most didn't even know what you were unless you told them, which you haven't told many.
"You...you know what I am?"
"Yes. It's not that hard when you know the right tricks." He then gave you a look that suggested that it was obvious.
"Since you know something about me, I think it's only fair if you answer a question about yourself."
He seemed annoyed but nodded, waiting for you to continue. "Tell me your story. I always see you by yourself and you always seem so lonely, no matter how much you try to hide it. Besides, you must be something special to see me for who I am." He hesitated and you waited for an answer. When none came you asked again. "Please, you agreed to answer my question."
Finally he started speaking. It didn't take him long to tell you a little bit about himself. Not much, just enough to satisfy you. You didn't realize how long you'd been talking and before long, it was time for you to leave.
"I enjoyed this, we should talk again soon." He nodded so you smiled and walked away, leaving him to go back to his thoughts.

After that introductory talk with Loki, you met up with him more often. At first it was more of you searching him out and bugging him. Soon however, he was becoming more relaxed around you and willing to join in the conversation. It wasn't long before he became trusting enough of you to tell you more about himself. As he became trusting of you, you came to trust him as well, something you had never done before.
As your meetings became longer and more frequent, something inside you felt lighter. You became excited about seeing him and you realized that your feelings for him were morphing from intrigued into love.
You weren't sure how to approach Loki about your feelings but figured that you'd just come out and say it. You just had to get your courage up.
It was at one of your daily chats that you forced the words out. "I love you."
He stopped what he was saying and just looked at you before shrugging. "It doesn't take a genius to figure that one out." His reaction was quite different than you had been expecting so it took you a minute to think of an appropriate response.
"You knew? Why didn't you say anything?"
"Yes, I knew that you would tell me when you were ready though." Smiling you reached over and placed your hand in his. You were feeling more confident than before, knowing he already knew and wasn't freaking out about it.
"I don't ever want to leave Asgard or you."
"You don't have to. I'll always be here, backing you up." You knew he meant it too.
"Thanks Loki." You gave him a quick kiss before resting your head on his shoulder. Your past may have been hard and lonely, but now you knew you'd never have to be alone again.
