"Hey, Mom!" Dalila walked into her house, with the rest trailing slightly behind. Her mother rushed over to her. "Dalila! Where have you been?"
Dalila shrugged. "It's a long, confusing story that you probably wouldn't believe. Is it okay if Sean and Filip and a couple others hang out for a while?" Her mother looked at her suspiciously. "Do I know these other friends?" Dalila laughed nervously. "Sort of?"
"Well, I trust you, Dalila. Can I meet them?" Dalila smiled. "Sure. Mom, meet Olive, Otto, and Oscar." Olive waved. "Hello, ma'am."
Dalila's mother looked at Olive, Otto, and Oscar, and then back at Dalila, Filip, and Sean. "Explain, please." Quickly, Dalila gave an abridged explanation, then hurried the group into her room before any more questions could be asked.
Powering on her laptop, Dalila googled "oddness".
"Whoa... Nearly 800,000 results?" Otto stood there, amazed. Filip smiled. "Obviously, we're not going to go through all of them. We'll just go through some of them."
Olive got a notebook and took notes of the things that seemed like they would lead to Todd. "Okay, let's plot these on a world map."
About fifteen minutes later, the six were staring at a map covered with pins.
"Wait. Is it just me, or are all these sites in a spiral?" Olive looked at her. "What?"
"See, it just looks random here, but if you start at our location and go in chronological order..." As she spoke, Dalila wound some string around the points until it looked like a spiral.
"Hey, you're right!" Otto exclaimed. Sean nodded. "But not just any spiral. The side lengths of the spiral are prime numbers. Makes sense." Oscar raised an eyebrow questioningly.
"I'll explain later. But anyways, since we know how far he's moving each time, we can plot his next point and intercept him there!"
"So, if he's here, and he'll move this far..." Sean pointed to a couple of spots on the spiral. "He'll be heading to Oslo, Norway next."
"Great! Let's go." Olive headed towards a file cabinet.
"Olive!" Dalila dragged her away just in time. "We don't have tubes here, remember?" Olive looked confused for a minute, then realized what she was talking about. "Oh yeah! Sorry."
"It's okay. Just... be more careful next time." Dalila gave her a worried smile, then turned back to the rest of them. "And that brings us to our next topic: HOW ON EARTH ARE WE GOING TO GET TO OSLO?"
