As soon as they got to the lab, Oscar found a remote and pulled up a picture of the portal. "So, while you were out solving the clues, Sean and I found a way to replicate the portal. However, there's one small problem. Todd, being Todd, decided to make the portal run on pure oddness. He was so odd that he just had to step into the portal, and it would transport him to your world. However, with us having negative oddness, the portal would not only shut down, it would create a reverse portal, which would in turn create a-"
"Timetastrophe," everyone moaned. Olive spoke up. "We have negative oddness?"
Oscar smiled and adjusted his lab coat. "Of course! This is Odd Squad, after all."
Camille seemed deep in thought. "So we can't power the portal on oddness..."
Dalila perked up. "What if we used something else to power the portal?"
Oscar found a scrap of paper and started scribbling calculations on it. "I think that would work! Any ideas, people?"
"Ooh!" Olympia raised her hand excitedly. When Oscar pointed to her, she chirped, "Cuteness! We can get Camille to bring in Paris and Onyx, and then the portal will open right up!"
Camille smiled. "Great idea!" Then she stopped. "But where would we put them? Onyx could kind of fit in the lab, but Paris is WAY too big. And they also get kind of restless, and there looks like there's a lot of breakable stuff around here."
Olympia wilted. "Aww..."
Camille chuckled. "Don't worry, you can come and visit them any time you want." Olympia perked back up immediately.
Oscar clapped his hands. "Focus, people! We've got an odd maniac causing complete pandemonium, and we need to stop him as soon as possible. So cuteness won't work, any other ideas?"
"Soundcheck!" Otto exclaimed.
"NO," Olive fumed.
"This is just an idea, but... In Peter Pan, fairies survive by getting people who believe in fairies to clap. Maybe we could do something like that, with positive energy from those who believe in Odd Squad?" Camille shrugged thoughtfully.
"Hmm... It seems doable... But for the portal to be stable enough to attempt crossing through, we'd need to have people on the other side, in their world, showing their support, and we have no way to contact them!" Oscar banged his fist on the table in utter frustration.
"Oh! I know a way! There's this community filled with lovely, wonderful people that are always supportive. I know they'll have enough positive energy to stabilize the portal! Do you have a laptop?" Camille asked brightly. Oscar reached behind his back and pulled out a laptop. She opened it and powered it on. Everyone crowded around her as she began to type.
Hello, lovely readers! Super sorry about the flying goldfish, pienados, or any other oddness you've been witnessing. As you can see, we're in quite a predicament here. If you wouldn't mind helping us out, it would be great if you sent some positive thoughts and happiness this way. I know you'll do absolutely wonderful. Hugs, and always remember: Never stop believing in Odd Squad!
Camille pressed "Publish", and turned around, a satisfied smile on her face. "Now we wait."
"For what?" Sean asked.
Camille smiled. "The next chapter. There should be enough energy by then."
"So, that's it? The fate of the world is in the hands of these people?" Otto asked doubtfully.
"Sure! I know we can count on them!" Camille giggled. "Relax, everything's going to be fine. You'll see."
