I watched Grimes, taking in the new music I'd never heard. I liked it. Melissa seemed to love it. I smiled out of happiness, seeing that my friend did actually like stuff.
We stayed as that until Grimes finished and we all cheered.
"Now I know you guys have all been waiting for this moment to hear the one and only... LANA DEL REY!"
If you thought I was crying before, you should've seen me then. I was balling my eyes out. The nostalgic lighting hit her so perfectly as she started off with Cruel World.
The guitar and the rhythm of the music was so beautiful. It still is to this day for me. I was swaying, singing, being a mess; I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
I started taking videos and photos, savoring the night. I thought she saw me a few times when she walk in my direction, giving these flirty look as though she wanted to tease whoever she was looking at.
All I wanted was to see her again.
The concert was ended with a throwback, which was kind of a surprise to everyone in the audience. She usually wasn't a huge singer from her May Jailer days. She sang All Smiles, my absolute favorite song. I cried harder than I ever had in my life, looking at her in awe.
"It don't matter to you, it don't matter to you it don't matter to you what those, other girls do I'm gonna prove to you. I'm gonna prooooove to you."
That entire last part made my goosebumps turn into something else that I still can't describe. I nearly melted and fainted. Melissa had to grab me. Where would I be without her. She said her thank you and walked off the stage, looking so graceful. I ran as fast as I could to the merchandise area for a t-shirt, and then busted my ass to the stage for another visit with her.
"You're back?" Her manager said with a laugh. She lead us back to Lana's room, to which she answered right away as though she was expecting us and only us. Melissa walked around, trying to stay distracted. Lana looked deeply into my eyes, not letting up from the trance easily. I waved my hand in front of her face.
"Do you wanna go out for a bite? Your friend can come too." She said with a hint of nervousness in her voice.
I look at Melissa for acceptance. She gave me the ok look, and we took off, Melissa and I in our dune buggy, and Lana in her car. I let Melissa drive because I was too unstable too. We both knew. We arrived to the restaurant right next to the beach. It was called La Taqueria.
I hopped out and gave her a hug. I said thank you for everything she'd done for me. Seeing her was enough, but for her to do this?? It was unreal. We got our table and continued to sit in silence.
I broke the silence by saying, "All Smiles was the best surprise of the night. It made my day complete along with everything else." She smiled at me warmly.
"Thank you! What do you like about it?"
"It's so carefree yet it isn't. It's so simple and to the point and everything! No drums, no studio, just you." I smiled so wide. Melissa was smiling with me, seeing as she was a sucker for contagious smiling.
Lana smiled, as saying thank you. Then she furrowed her eyebrows, looking confused. "Are you two dating?" We both busted out laughing.
"Tragically, we're both heterosexual." I said. Lana frowned. She looked so cute like that. "So what made you give me your phone number?" I asked, trying to drift from the awkward topic.
"I don't even know myself. Just because." Lana said with a small smile. "You can call me Lizzy you know. I hate it when people who know me call me by my stage name. It's special for fans." She wants to get to know me?
