Chapter 11

The next morning I got ready, and headed off to school.

I get into first period and of course my seat is right next to Finn Hudson.

We made eye contact for a second until i quickly looked away and sat down.

"Okay class, today i will partner you up for a project that is due in 2 weeks." The teacher says.
 
Great. A project. I hope i dont get partnered up with anyone who wont do anything.

As the teacher walks around the class telling the students who theyll be partnered up with, i see from the corner of my eye that finn is staring at me.

I get uncomfortable so i turn my back to him and start talking to some girl sitting next to me.

I look around the class and see people walking up to there friends and high fiving each other.

"Ms. Berry you will be partnered up with Mr. Hudson." The teacher says.

My eyes go wide and i turn to see finn who has the same expression as me.

"Oh wait Mr please can i work with anyone else?" I plead.

"Sorry but you are the last person to be partnered up, everyone else has partners already. Im sorry." He says and walks away.

I groan and put my head down.

"Looks like were partners." I hear Finn say. I look up and fake a smile.

"Looks like we are."

And with that we started on our project. We hardly talked but i was fine with that. I was also doing most of the project too but i was fine with that as long as me and finn didnt have to talk.

Lets just say that class was pretty awkward.

~Lunch~
It was lunch time and i was walking down the hall with kurt and mercedes.

"I dont know if i want to do a duet or a..." Kurt was saying something but i stopped listening cuz he turned the corner.

He looks so amazing today with his letterman jacket. The way his hair was combed today made him look older then he actually was. Oh crap ive been staring for a while.

"Rachel? Earth to Rachel?!" Kurt said waving a hand in front of me.

"Huh? Sorry what?" I said turning my attention towards him.

"I said if you wanted to be my duet partner if i dont do a solo?" Kurt asked me.

"Sorry kurt, but im already planning on doing a solo." I gave a small smile.
"Sorry guys but i have to go." I said and turned to walk away not watching where i was going. I ran into someone and fell on to the floor. Great.

"Oh my gosh, Rachel im so sorry!" He said. He offered his hand out to me and i took it.

"I am so sorry, i didnt see you." He said apologizing again.

"Finn, its fine." i say

"You sure?" he asked.

"Yes, nothings broken so i should be good." I say patting my body pretending to look for any broken bones.

I hear him laugh which makes me smile.

I look up at him and we stare in each others eyes for a bit.

His eyes are a chocolate brown and the way the sun from the windows are hitting him, makes them sparkle.

I look down and realize were alone in the hallway.

"Rachel, I dont want things to be like this." Finn says.

"Well how are they supposed to be?" I ask.

"Not like this." He says.

"Okay, why dont we start over? Hi, im Finn Hudson." he adds putting his hand out.

"And im Rachel Berry." i laugh and shake his hand.

"How about we meet up in the auditorium tomorrow to work on our project?" Finn asks.

"Yeah sure." I respond with a smile. A real smile.

"Okay then, well i have to go, im starving." he says

I laugh.

"Okay." i say.

We wave bye and head our separate ways.

I am so happy that things are okay now. But i wonder what he still thinks of the kiss. Does he not care? Did he forget already?

I guess the world may never know. Who knows whats going on in that boys head.

I get home and see my moms car in the driveway. I didnt think she'd be home today.

I walk in and see her sitting on the couch.

"Hey mom, i thought you were coming back next week?" I ask.

"Yeah i was but they gave me an offer i couldnt refuse." She says slightly sad.

"Whats wrong?" I ask.

"The case i got offered, well its in New York and i have to be gone for 3 months." She says.

"Woah thats the longest you've been gone." I say.

"Yeah, i could turn down the offer if you want me to." She says.

"No, this seems like an amazing offer. Take it, I'll be fine." I say.

"Well i leave tonight. I left you some money and my credit card if you want takeout or want to shop for new clothes." She says.

"Okay thanks mom, Ill miss you." I say hugging her.

She hugs me back and we watch tv together.

Time passed and its time for my mom to go to the airport.

20 minutes later we arrive.

"Hey, ive noticed you wear skirts now so if you want you can take my car. But if you even get a scratch on it. I will end you." My mom says.

"Wait what? Your letting me use your car!?" I ask. Her car is Jaguar C-x75.

"Yes, but dont scratch it!" She says.

"Omg omg Thank you thank you thank you!!" I say and hug her tightly.

"Okay. I need to be alive for this case so stop squeezing the life out of me." she says laughing.

"Ill miss you mom." i say sad that shes leaving.

"Ill miss you too babygirl, but just wait and see ill be back before you know it." she says.

"I love you." She adds.

"I love you too mom." I say back.

We hug one last time and she walks to the entrance.

She turns and waves one last time. I smile at her and get in the car. Ill miss her so much. But im still excited for the car!!

Ahhh, i know i finally updated! I will be starting on the next chapter now so expect another update tonight or tomorrow morning !!
